Somewhere Only We Know Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river, and it made me complete

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

[Verse 2]
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

[Chorus]
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
somewhere only we know, somewhere only we know lyrics,
keane somewhere only we know lyrics, only we know keane lyrics,
somewhere only we know keane lyrics, somewhere we only know lyrics,
someone only we know lyrics, somewhere only we know with lyrics,
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

[Chorus]
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go?
So why don't we go?
Ooh-aah, oh

[Outro]
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know

  • My professor once told me: Do you know why children use pencils and adults use pens. Because when your young, some things you do can be erased, mistakes can be corrected, wrongdoings can be tolerated. And when your adult all wrongdoings, mistakes, choices, and things you do can have a very permanent impact in your life. Yes. Might be erased. But will leave a scar.
  • “Oh simple things, where have you gone?” This line hits much different now that we’re growing up. As kids we were so careless about everything, enjoying everything and anything, now it’s just responsibilities. Also think about how our younger us thought growing up is the best since no one will make choices for you, but realized soon after we all see the real world.

I'm 68 years old and came across this song just a couple of months ago. The lyrics just bring tears to my eyes each time because the simple things are worlds and worlds away. Sometimes they're hard to see, harder even to remember that they did exist. Life starts out with a single word then ends up in jumbles. You get thrown all around but you know there's always a place that your heart won't ever let go.
  • THIS IS THE SONG THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO RUN OUTSIDE AT NIGHT ,LAY ON THE GRASS,LOOK UP AT THE SKY,STARING AT THE STARS . SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL'❤

me and my class are singing this for our graduation before we all head off on different paths to university, it's gonna be hard not to cry lol
  • “I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin” this hits me so hard, I've been fighting my suicidal thoughts for almost two years. I'm already tired, I want it to stop:(

I was 18 when this song came out. I am now 35 and I always come back to this song always putting me at a state of peacefulness and gratitude of where I've been.
  • The more we grow up, the lyrics go deeper and deeper❤️
  • @JanahSmirnova
It’s very rare to find a song that has lyrics this deep on nowadays songs, that’s why I love old songs
  • @raiyalee9029
Me and my fifth grade choir sang this for my whole elementary school and I could see tears coming from my friends, teachers, other students, and I even felt some of mine skiing down. I heard my friend sing this song to someone she loves and now she has a boyfriend. I never knew what the power of music could do to people. ❤😊

I used to listen to this song when I was 14 years old … now I’m 30 years old.. and I even get emotional more than ever “ I’m getting old and I need something to rely on💔”
  • As a daydreamer, writer-for-fun and artist this really catches the feeling of escaping reality and escaping to a universe made in my mind
  • This song really hits different, the simple things that we (the older generation) experienced and enjoyed during childhood are now considered luxurious memories.

Dude it feels like when you're favorite cartoon series ends and u look back to when u were younger when you remember watching the first episode and realize how much u grew up with these shows and miss the time when u were excited to see this show, it just makes you feel old
  • I remember listening to this song as a kid and thinking it's a happy song about love... I'm now about to be 17 and I lost my dad 6 months ago and now I go to a bathroom or my bedroom and play this song whenever I want to cry so nobody knows how much I really miss him
