Thanks for coming over! The video came out great.

At the beginning I thought "That street looks familiar, just like one in my town." Then it hit me. Wow! I actually know Nick! We used to work together at a pet store. Great guy, and super knowledgeable. I haven't spoken to him in quite a while so I had no idea he was up to this. Not at all surprised, though.

My uncle rise catfishes in his cistern here in Indonesia. Catfish is one of the easiest fish to cultivate, they don't need clean water, they eat almost anything, they don't mind crowded pool, and they grow up big

Now this is a collaboration I would have never had predicted

Adam causally outing himself as a stoner after the outro is hilarious

As a child, my father raised rainbow trout in our large outdoor swimming pool. We still swam in it.

Adam, please feel free to keep bringing us stuff you find interesting even if it's not a recipe video. You have earned that much!
  • @Ehstes
This has been Adam's oddest video, but I dig it.
  • @Lomainium
The way this thumbnail makes his legs look so tiny mades me laugh more than it should’ve
  • @pixlark4287
I was so freakin disgusted until about 60 seconds in when I realized that "cistern" is not the same thing as "septic tank"
  • I’m glad Adam asked the question we were all wondering at the end cause wow what a spot.

In Norway, every farm used to have it's own well. And each well had one or two trout, both to eat algae, snails and whatever else ended up in the well, and to give an indication on the water quality. The trout needed to be quite small, which meant that most farmers would replace the fish every year or so. That day, the family ate pan fried trout as a midday snack.

I absolutely love how the echoes sound in a chamber like this, all the standing waves from the parallel walls, it's great. Maybe not quite as good as a room like the Sistine Chapel but almost as good, sort of a Cistern Chapel, if you will.

Hello adam! Environmental engineering student here. The Bioballs that you mentioned in your video are actually what we call "Packing" materials, they are packed in a column or in a tank where water can trickle through. (In fact, the drum in his basement is a trickling filter) Packing material generally has a lot of surfance area which allows for aerobic bacteria to grow onto the surface and develop a Biofilm, which is then what cleans the water to become "effluent" grade. Trickling is also important as it prohibits the growth of anaerobic bacteria, which can actually emit obnoxious gasses, and it isn't really a pleasant experience. I'm happy actually that I saw a tertiary treatment step before dumping the wastewater out, as halfway through the video I was just under the impression that he dumps the wastewater out, which is very high in BOD, and can cause eutrophication in the bodies of water it might hit.

This is one of the collabs I have been praying for ever since the start of Adam's Fishtank Arc
  • Got me imagining a huge reef tank with glass floor above. It would be a challenge even with retired-lawyer money, but a koi pond would probably be doable. That's one of the things on my "won the powerballs" list, a house full of huge, extravagant aquariums of different biomes.

I loved hearing the nitrogen cycle explained eloquently by a non fish keeper. Loved this outsider view of cow turtle!

Cow Turtle’s channel is great. His setup is so wild and he travels all over showing the local wildlife. Such an underrated channel.
