Lyrics:
Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows
And walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

My husband would turn this song on, look at me and hold out his hand and we would slow dance to it. He was dying of COPD...about 3 weeks before he passed, he turned it on one more time. I looked at him, helped him up from his chair and he literally hung on me, as he was too weak to stand on his own anymore and we shared...one...last...dance. RIP, Robbie...I love you.
  • To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace confusion. may peace and calmness fill your life.
  • Im a grown ass man but i cry when i hear this song. I lost my mom to cancer after a 15 year battle, and being her caregiver from when i was 16 to 31. My father drank himself to death 2 years earlier and i found his body on christmas eve. My mom also passed away the day before my birthday. Love every minute of every day because its gone before we know it.

I lost my wife of 58 years today. We met in grade school and never looked back. This was our song. Depicted our life to a tee. I don’t know how im going to move on without her. I’m sitting here crying like a baby.
  • Just played this at my husband’s funeral last week - May 2024. We would have been married 54 years in August 2024. Thank you Allen, there was not a dry eye.
  • Everytime someone like this comment, I'll come back to listen this beautiful song. ❤

My husband passed away last year. We would dance to this. Now that he is gone, I can still feel his arms around me as I dance alone in my living room where we once danced together. What a life we shared. His birthday would have been July 6th. God I miss him. 😢

My dad died earlier today. A man I loved more than any other. He battled cancer for two years, last Feb he was given three weeks to live.He fought for us, his family, to be there for us and for Mum, his wife of 58 years. Luckily, we got to say our goodbyes yesterday, it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I cry now for a man I loved dearly who is now gone, but who left me with the best of memories. He passed in peace, painless having seen us all. Sleep well Dad, I love you now and always.

I lost my husband in May. This song tells our story. 53 years of marriage. Cancer took him in 6 months. Now I am alone; but this song reminds me of our great love, our life, our joy. Thank you for the song.

Life goes by too fast. By the time you realize what is important, you're old.
