  • Yes! NMS is a fantastic game now. Great community, tons of game improvements and content, great multiplayer support with cross play, and consistent free updates. That’s how you bring a game back.

When I want a relaxing and peaceful game with some combat, No Man’s Sky is the way to go.

No Man's Sky is a great example of when somebody wants to build a game because it's their passion project and they want to make it work and see people enjoying their creation.
  • NMS was my main lockdown game. I got very hooked, and have over 1300 hours across various saves. I mainly go back now for the new expeditions and updates, but I do drop in every now and again otherwise. At this point I almost feel guilty about receiving so much new content free each time - I would happily have paid something more. I've certainly had my money's worth many times over. Whatever it was, or wasn't, at the beginning, for some time now it has been an excellent game which shows no sign of stopping soon. I played HG's The Last Campfire which was also great, if tiny by comparison, and look forward to Light No Fire. If you haven't played NMS and enjoy anything similar, I thoroughly recommend it.

as a wise Digital Extremes CEO once said, "They think the release is make or break, and it's not. They have a financial way to be persistent, and they never do it. It comes out, doesn't work, and they throw it away". Warframe, No Man's Sky, shit even to an extent Cyberpunk 2077 shows that almost all games can have a redemption arc or need time to get going
  • This is an incredible space game. I play on PC regular mode and with a VR headset. The adventure of exploring new worlds with their varied creatures, danger and resources. Building bases and trading across the Galaxy for a profit is really fun. This more than a game, it is teacher for decision making.

HOW THEY DID IT: Time, patience, love, passion, no microtransactions, treating game making like a passionate hobby and not a business, being fully honest and transparent with their community, and treating gamers like people not wallets.
  • I've known of NMS pretty much from the beginning, but it's never been my cup of tea. However, it might be my son's, so I watch for stuff like this now to know. And I had NOT heard of Light No Fire, so thanks! Going to learn about it after work. :-) Or maybe during, depending on how the day goes.

You forgot to mention the flood that HG had that was a huge set back and that Sean said not everything will be in the game a launch
  • A video that's a handful of days "late" but well-delivered—good editing, informative, etc.—is preferable to one that's sub-par and pushed out the second a game/update drops. Solid video overall and the best I've seen surrounding this newest update. 🏆
  • Wasn’t excited for their new game at all until I hopped back on for this update. After seeing all the guilds, quests, anomaly, freighter battles, storylines, etc It’s like playing a totally new game. I’m glad I gave it another shot. Hope light no fire gets a good amount of content at launch

Picked this up on a steam sale a couple of months back. Heard it was much better. Think I might give it a shot.
  • @Supallcomm
Man, I really miss what Anthem could have been.
  • @batliff
They didn't mess up, everyone was thinking short term, Hello Games was speaking long term.
  • @VincePhoenix
I never really take the time to do it, but each expedition I tell myself I should continue my main save ..! They had a bad start, but they diserve every bit of success they got now
  • @luke5g230
I love NMS ever since launch. Great video mate and the team at Hello Games are amazing
  • Sean Murray is a godsend he has created a fantastic game even though through the years he's been criticized this game is way past awesome I don't have a word for it but I play this game when I need to relax from having a frustrated day and I appreciate him so much for making this game❤❤
  • @boni58
Completely deserved, this review! Thanks for sharing!
  • @ReklessRagnar
I didn't get this game when it first came out as I had not long started playing Elite dangerous at the time. I recently brought No man's sky about 3 weeks ago and haven't been to stop playing it since.🤣 Great game I'm loving it.

I said it in 2016, and Ill say it again now. I think Hello Games knew the game wasnt where it needed to be, and wanted to delay the launch a second time, but Sony wouldn't let them. Their continued dedication and free updates are a good indication to me that I was and am correct. That doesn't negate their part in it, but it also could have been contractual obligations to Sony that prevented them from tempering expectations. Just my 2 cents.
