A858 is a mysterious subreddit made in 2011 posting strange hexadecimal sequences multiple times per day. The mystery gets stranger after the user behind it starts giving small pieces of information about the project through heavily encrypted code. The a858 mystery has been around for almost 10 years now, and the true meaning is still shrouded. The cryptography displayed is seemingly very hard to solve, but I hope that some attention can be brought back to this subreddit and mystery so that it may become solved.

A failed ARG that the owner simply no longer wanted to continue sounds like a pretty solid explanation.

I think the sub's purpose was to test a new form of encryption, the posts that people were able to decrypt were most likely to maintain interest on the project.

Is it just me or is YouTube pushing more quality channels with under 100k subs recently. Really nice to see

Amazing... imagine working on a sequence for days on end and finally cracking it and it's just a variation on "Thanks for the gold, kind stranger!"
