We take a look at the Serer faith โ an ancient philosophy that arose in the Senegambian region of west Africa. We will see parallels between the ancient Serer faith, its belief in reincarnation, to the eastern dharmic faiths.
The serer refer to the God energy responsible for creation as Roog (Roog Sene)- the creator of the universe.Roog like the Brahman of Vedanta is an impersonal, infinite god energy. Like the Akan and other African philosophies the Serer too are more monistic not monotheistic. They do not externalize the god energy.
According to the serer, after death, once the soul leaves the body they move to Jaaniiw (the abode of the departed).
This journey the serer claim is guided by the light of the moon.
Ciid are the disembodied spirits that strive to be reincarnated. Again, there is a symbolism that is associated with the serpent here. The transformation into a snake is a part of the journey but this is largely symbolic.
Serer faith persecution - Faith in Reincarnation will prevent blind attachment to certain labels and so it canโt be used to create theological empires to subject the โotherโ unjustly.

Am so excited to hear the word roog, all I can remember about our serer God is very little now, let me explain what still remember. In our serer religion, if you say in serer Roog ,the meaning is,everything is God , Roog is the creator . We have otherwise three 3 gods known as 1 Miรฑan 2 madan and 3 sobel, this are the other 3 gods that visited our ancient serer grandparents .this 3 gods comes from heaven or the sky ,on there Arrival they chose men in our serer tribe and call them saltigue , so saltigue is the chose by God sobell, who is God sobell ?,sobell is the god coming from endou which mean ,the God coming from India or shiva ,in serer language endou is India and sobell is shiva ,so Shiva or sobell ,in our serer culture,we usually say we are from endou or India, but the truth is one of our Gods sobell or shiva is always coming from endou or India and give knowledge , wisdom, medicine to the saltigue ,in the senegambia we the serer were the only tribe that had a God From the sky ,till today the saltigue can predict the future ,and can even tell u the day u will die ,if there's no rain ,they can make it rain now ,even not in raining season and etc,etc those are part of the knowledge they get from our Gods. Before Islam came, we the serer were the only tribe that had supper Gods coming from the heavens or sky .with powers.
