I shoot the 130gr Barnes TTSX bullet with Starline Brass in 308 Winchester and it's fully compressed. See how it performs, is it safe?

I've been wanting to see videos like this!
  • I seat this bullet .050 off of the lands. Win 748 is 3200 fps in the accuracy charge with cci 200, with Varget not being too far behind. If you pull the front rest back, grip the forearm, pulling down and back at a 45* angle, your group will improve substantially. We shoot incredible groups with Win and Rem brass with this bullet. Approximately the same loads work well with the 125g Sierra's, which kill big deer like a bolt of lightening!

Glad to see it worked out for ya! I was pretty apprehensive when i was doing this load as well 😂

Love the Starline brass and I think it’s hard to beat at the price point. That being said, the new brass is certainly short on H2O volume. My 30-06 cases were 3 grains below SAAMI spec

My favourite load. Settled at 53gr for same reasons with 5-8 SD. Very quick at 3000fps in 16" tube
  • Let’s see the 30-06!! I have some makers in 130 I wanna try! So this is really helpful

I've got a jigsaw with broken blade holder. Made a small box of plywood......jigsaw running. Loading block on top. Just enough vibration to make powder settle. Less crunching, seating compressed loads. 308, 130ttsx basically a 260rem

Sweet load and good shooting. ID just go with the first one.
  • I had this issue before with ZQI mil-spec once fired brass (my brass). Same exact 130grn ttsx. I emailed Barnes and they said with military brass reduce charge by 10% Your brass looks exactly how mine did.

One of my loads this past deer season! Well, don't know what powder you used, if you said, I missed it. I tagged a few deer on my dad's place last season. 130 Barnes TTSX, Winchester brass, Fed210M primer, near max load TAC, 3200fps, Factory Tikka T3x. But mine never shot as well as yours which is why I changed barrels and stock. Much better now. When I get my 30.06 back I might test that same bullet in it

I think you found the peak of the speed your barrel was able to provide you. With a longer barrel I bet you would have seen a more significant jump in velocity.

Good groups and shooting, ive never personally had any issues with compressed loads in rifle or pistol, try a drop tube to help settle the powder better in the case, I have also seen a loss of velocity at max as opposed to a grain or two below max with various powders and bullet combos
  • We loaded ours with TAC powder at 0.7grs below the Mac and it was still compressed. We got 3216 out of a Springfield m1a... 3150 out of my 18" ar10

My experience with compressed loads is very limited, 22 hornet and possibly the 243. Different case brands have different capacities which seems odd. Only issue was this summer my hornet's bolt stuck a few times. 243 compressed kicked enough that i don't load them anymore.

Thanks for the video 😊. I’ve been curious about 130 gn Barnes but my rifle doesn’t shoot 150 gn well, so I’m not sure it will shoot 130 gn well. I’ve got 1:10 twist barrel
