Just had to react to this one, I didn't know what to expect and it definitely surprised me.

Eminem's new single "Houdini" marks his return to the music scene, serving as the lead track from his upcoming album "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)," slated for release in summer 2024. The announcement came via a creative Instagram video featuring magician David Blaine, where they discuss performing a magic stunt. The video ends with Blaine dramatically eating glass and Eminem jokingly saying he will make his career disappear, all leading up to the reveal of the single's release date.

"Houdini" is Eminem's first new music since his 2020 album "Music to Be Murdered By," which topped the Billboard 200 charts. This new track continues to build anticipation for "The Death of Slim Shady," his 12th studio album, which follows a highly publicized mock obituary for his alter ego Slim Shady that was published in The Detroit News and other outlets as part of the album's marketing campaign.

The collaboration with David Blaine not only serves as a promotional stunt but also ties into the song's theme, which is expected to blend Eminem's lyrical prowess with elements of magic and illusion. This release is part of a larger strategy to reintroduce Eminem's alter ego in a dramatic fashion, setting the stage for what fans anticipate to be a significant and introspective project. The single is here!

Really enjoyed it. He’s at his best when he’s playful and lighthearted while still remaining lyrical. The video REALLY hit on the nostalgia for me.
  • He hit on all the decades of his life-colors, trends, gaming, music, clothes, comedy, news, people-fictional or not….definitely a nostalgic piece. From that standpoint I think it was a success.

It's a great song. 9/10 easily. I want him to do a Relapse 2. He's had a couple of songs since then that have had the horrorcore vibe, but I really want a full on second Relapse album.

Definitely a fun song. I like it's got the old vibe of Eminem for sure.

thanks for the breakdown, I missed a bunch of those in my first watchings

the longer hair, IIRC is a homage to Chris D'elia playing him in Logic's song and then Em counter playing him.

It’s early Em biographical but it’s camp at the same time . Love he can poke fun at himself and make it a banger.

I’m similar, recovery was the best album for me, showed growth

It's no longer a selfie stick, but a "Live Streamer" stick. So, even worse 😂😂😂

This was a fantastic reaction and i enjoyed watching you analyze the song as well! Shady is back! Tell a Friend! 😄 I would give this track an 8.5 score as well and it's definitely a great single that gave me Nostalgic vibes like i was transported back to 2002! I love the Eminem Show as well! Also great memory on Em's previous album singles and legendary dad joke's throughout the reaction! 😂

I think the hair intentionally was made long as a reference to the wig that Pete Davidson used for the Eminem skits. And surprise surprise, he makes a cameo at the end
  • The Pete Davidson cameo references alot. He is friends with mgk and also was in a yellow Lamborghini. Mgk and em had beef. Pete Davidson did the em skit on snl and also had a wreck less driving incident which is why he says “don’t worth I just got my license back” and proceeds to crash into everything. This song has so many layers. Houdini died at 52. Had Detroit ties. Em is 51 and from Detroit. Abra cadabra. I don’t think is lyrically a masterpiece but it’s an entrance into what he’s going for

13:05 I get trying to match "I wanna reach out and grab ya" from the original tune this beat is built around, but yeah, real stretch.
