Yes you loose power when reeds don't seal. Mostly you notice bad reeds on Is acceleration. It runs rich. Typically I use to cut my own Reed pedals. Ran polline carbon fiber reeds bought the material from treatlandtv moped parts. Not really worth the money though. If your tips were getting shredded that usually caused bu them hitting the inside of intake. Old gassbike reeds did that when running them on case Reed motors. Easy fix was add spacer so reeds opened up more without hitting intake. That wasn't your issue. Just get ya some new pedals and let it ripp. Great videos allways
