8:03 Rick uses side characters to show that they are still kids. Our characters don’t want to be heroes. They could not care less about glory. They want normal lives. The side characters, AKA the ones who aren’t forced on quests constantly, do what normal teenagers do. The side characters are what should have been. Being the hero brings tragedy and they fight this fact by trying to be normal kids. Also, from a writers perspective, side characters life details help your world seem real. The little bits of random information makes the story feel less isolated. Things aren’t static when the plot isn’t moving if people have lives outside of said plot. They are people being brought into a story, not a story that creates people.

This doesn’t really have anything to do with the video but I just have to say this. Seeing Nico go from a happy wide eyed kid to the dark gloomy boy we know now is gonna hit even harder in live action. I can’t wait for the show to get more seasons but I’m also not ready for them.

I don't think you're understanding what people meant when they said solangelo came out of nowhere. Most people don't mean that we didn't see enough of the relationship developing, it's that Will is introduced as a love interest for Nico waayyy too soon in his arc. Nico's just come off what is arguably the most traumatic arc in the entirety of the series. He goes to Tartarus (alone), is trapped in a metal jar without oxygen for a week, is octracized and bordeline bullied by his teammates aboard the Argo II, forcefully outed by a god in front of a boy he barely knows and finally, he nearly fades into shadow (and is outed AGAIN to Reyna and Coach Hedge by his powers), all within the space of two months, without any breaks and the majority without even an ally. Then, instead of giving him time to heal or even just RECOVER, he's immediately given a random relationship arc in the last few chapters like checking off a box on a gay character to-do list. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE solangelo. I just think I would have loved them a lot more if they'd been introduced as a concept in The Hidden Oracle and confirmed in Tower of Nero, and I think a lot of people agree.

I used to ship Rachel and Octavian, and I now wish I didn’t. On Wattpad I still think I have a Rachel x Octavian fanfic saved, and gods forbid, Nico x Reyna (young me was crazy)

I didn't like Solangelo because I thought it was rushed until a few months later when I did like it and admitted that I didn't like it because it was gay and I was homophobic (I wouldn't have admitted it though). Now it's one of my top ships and I am queer.
