Macron's threats of Nato troops in Ukraine could become a reality if Putin's forces push west

Macron gets it. You do not tell your enemies what you are not prepared to do.

French national troops in Ukraine, operating under French national command, would NOT be NATO forces operating under integrated NATO command. France can do as it pleases in Ukraine, provided Ukraine agrees of course, and do so independently from NATO.

Macron is right. What's notable is that he's saying it, and that may be because of the luxury of concentrated power enjoyed by a French president. The key is that Russia is not in a position to act against Nato countries, but Russian gamesmanship has Nato countries cowed. As long as Russia is blocked in its efforts to take over Ukraine, the only thing that would lead Russia to attack a Nato country would be a direct attack by a Nato country against internationally recognized Russian territory. In fact, it's difficult to see Russia attacking a Nato country if Nato-supplied conventional weapons were used by Ukraine to attack facilities in Russia that directly support operations in Ukraine. The fear of Russian aggression is so deeply ingrained that it compromises European security, and Macron is right to be pushing back against that fear.

Troops from ‘France’ are fine. Call putins bluff at every stage. Germany is a disgrace.

I am not a fan of Macron but I think as he has said this, he means it.

There is only one way to deal with bullies.

There is no reason that Ukraine has to face russia alone in this war.

French troops are French troops. It does not have to have anything to do with Nato

I love Macron muddy the waters , keeps Putin guessing which is a strategic move, French troops have nothing to lose to shore up Ukrainian back sides, if Ukraine falls Europe will be next he gets it

Why is it a "THREAT " it sounds more like a "STATEMENT" or a "COMMENT" or a "POSSIBILITY"

I'd like to think any West European troops along the Belarus border would have the benefit of continuous and conspicuous air support at all times. I couldn't see Belarus or ruzzia picking a fight under those conditions
