  • I'll be trying this out as soon as possible. Thank you for making this video, Karolinger! My old, outdated system can use all the help running SC that it can get.
  • @Anachroschism
The results are pretty good, and this seems an essential tool for those on 4k.
  • Important info. Good guide. Helps people with less than ideal rigs. Like myself, thanks.
  • @sentinelangel
Great tool if you need an alternative to the driver based NIS or FSR. 👍
  • @Storm-Cleaver
My son has a gaming PC built by parts from mine, my wife's, and our friend's old gaming computers. It's decent, but it's definitely in fourth place. For most games, it's a beast. For Star Citizen, it's barely meeting the recommended stats.
  • LS1 is the best, it retains more fine details and never destroy text which is really important because LS upscale everything including the game HUDs However FSR optimized is so much faster.

I'll save it for when my new machine arrives...one day

If you run 3440x1440 you can't downsample to 1080 which means that the only way to get full screen is stretche. i played with settings and got some fps increases, but i'm not giving up my ultrawide aspect ratio for a few frames. will likely work for some.
  • @404-Err0r
Very very good video and very informative. Unfortunately for me, I game on 1080p and using this tool doesn't give me any clarity of text in the game. I'm sure it works well for 4k however.
  • im getting less frames whenever i use the lossless scaling than whenever i am using native. i have a 1080 monitor, nvidia 2070 super, 11th gen 19-11900 2.5GHz, 32 Gb of 2900MHz ram, and im only getting about 40 frames per second at the same space port you are at in the video rather than 45-55, i am at a loss as to what to do at this point.
  • Very professional video! I really like your english pronunciation considering you are german. I've been using down and upscaling for quite a while and it's a great way to get more FPS out of a weaker system. I definitely recommend it!
  • @TairnKA
Does this require the "frameless" setting or will it work in the "borderless" setting? Has this been tested on wide screens, ie: 49"? Will it stay active after a 30K or a wipe?
  • @honey-fe6pj
Use the devs LS1 scaling type- in Lossless Scaling- its the best looking. Lossless Scaling is why i really don't think its worth upgrading to a new GPU as i get about the same performance as the RTX 4080 and it looks great. Plus LS1 means there is no screen tearing so you can turn off VSync. Its great and so cheap for a very well supported app. Edit: But yes it does look like LS1 has dropped back slightly in imagine quality si i'll try FSR again. Thanks Karolinger!
  • @Sulto_
Hi, thanks for the video. Can you do a new test with the recently added frame generation ?
  • @Sulto_
i followed your steps, but my game stays in windowed mode or frameless, nothing scaling...
  • @lss247
It doesn't work on ultrawide monitors, does it? Star Citizen does not allow me to reduce resolution in a way that preserves aspect ratio.
  • @watermelon58
I believe this is only helpful if the scene you render is gpu bottle necked at all CPU like 5800x3d or 7800x3d paired with a weaker GPU lets say 3070 (which for most games is a very strange mismatch) then this would help tremendously and also at very high resolutions like 4k it starts to make a the biggest difference.
