A group of more than 200 pro-Palestinian protesters gathered on the University of Washington campus Tuesday night, with demonstrators twice using spray paint to vandalize the lens of a KOMO News camera.

Additionally, a KOMO News crew witnessed at least one fight during the demonstration, with at least 10 people involved in the skirmish. No arrests were reported and nobody appeared to be seriously hurt.

Throughout the protest, demonstrators held up black umbrellas as a means to block off access to the Quad on UW's campus. Moreover, several of the participants used plastic trash cans as a means to create a barrier between themselves and onlookers.

2:19 Conservative Commentator Charlie Kirk appeared on the UW campus Tuesday amidst heightened tensions, and just a few hundred yards away from a growing encampment at the Quad.

Kirk encouraged people to debate him about vaccines and foreign policy, and a couple hundred people stood around to watch the spectacle, which was rather calm at 1:30 p.m.

A stroll through the quad, home to protestors since last Monday, also appeared rather calm.

However, a few university police officers and security were seen near the borders of the Quad, and temporary fencing was seen in place, but students and faculty continued to stroll without obstruction through the popular campus spot.

No arrests with felonies being committed in broad daylight? Where are the police?!
  • These kids are so ignorant and their ignorance is getting worse, day by day.
  • Lunatics. Where is the outcry for the 12 American Hostages. WHERE are the cries for the Hostages , the baby, the toddler.
  • Is spraying and painting a camera considered a violent act or just a benign act of sympathy and love?

I'm a UW senior and have watched a lot of Charlie Kirk's debates. It's the students or opposition who create the "social media worthy highlight reels" not his "instigation". UW is a very left leaning campus as are most universities. Conservative opinion, no matter the fashion in which it is orated, produces a strong reaction because these opinions are not represented in the course material on these campuses. When a conservative opinion is presented in course material it is done haphazardly because there just isn't any professors on campus who believe in the position's validity. I know the term "echo chamber" seems to be over-used but class discourse really can be summed up as a circle jerk 9 times out of 10 and there's no wonder why "social media worthy" content is regularly captured on these campuses.

Good luck to Employers that hire this class of Militant . If Your company doesn't meet their expectations they will cover their face and march agains you , then try to sue the employer for discrimination if you fire them. Now I see why the State of Washington dropped the Bar Exam for potential lawyers because so many could not pass it .

The black bloc is looks increasing more militarized every year... Isn't that one of their critiques of the police force ?
  • The truth matters. Charlie Kirk invites debate. And you can hear the cynicism in many students - or the ones chosen to be aired - that any motivation must be just for clicks as if every appearance is only for clicks and not to engage in the truth. The Left teaches cynicism and nihilism.

Can you ask them WHY THEY ARE WEARING THE MUZZLES???!!

Paul Kim, there’s no civil discourse that is even initiated when you begin the conversation with an insult of someone else who has a differing opinion from yours.

Those fences on the Quad are useless. There needs to be a presence of campus security.
  • I fail to see how “protesting” a war in another country, in the safety of our own home, for a war that we didn’t actively start and whether or not we withdraw our hands from it will continue on how it will due to an entirely different nations’ issues, makes any single difference aside from starting division in our own communities.. 🤦‍♂️

It's the students' choice to go and debate with Charlie Kirk, if you decide to let time pass and skip class because you decided to debate with Charlie, that is on you, your an adult in college you take full responsibility and accountability of what you do. Charlie Kirk is only spreading the truth which is seen as "misleading" or "fascist" in the eyes of democratic / liberal students. It's just infuriating that people act this way in western civilization, very privileged and spoiled.

Open societies amd Soros should be made to pay for all damages to public property.
  • @samueljames5167
Students demand the schools divest, yet they don't have the fortitude to just divest themselves. They don't need to continue going to these schools, and passively paying them.
  • There is nothing more dangerous than a man sitting down with a smile and being open to conversations with anyone. How scary!!!!!

The First Amendment protects ALL speech, not just certain types of speech. "Freedom is scary, deal with it."
