NEW ZEALAND vs ARGENTINA | SELECTION REACTION | RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP

Published 2024-08-08
IMPACT is the watch word. For Argentina physicality they'll bring to try and upset the ABs. For New Zealand, as well as a serious team starting, there's some awesome impact from the bench with new faces and some very familiar ones returning.

  • Well done for spotting the completely deliberate error (*cough, honest guv) mistake on the Combined Team. Scott Barrett's name there in error. Kist wanted to check you were paying attention and watching till the end 😉
  • My best memories of rugby as a kid are waking up at 6am in Ireland to watch the tri nations while eating cereal lol. There was something magical about the early 2000s tri nations with king Carlos , carter , umaga, howlett, Gregan, larkham,Roff , Latham . I think this will be the best rugby championship yet! All blacks are under new management, aus finally have a competent coach , Argentina have a new coach , springboks out to prove a point that they can actually show up outside of world cups and lions tours.
  • I think Billy Proctor is the answer to ABs 13 -he is awesome and a regular partner of JB
  • @ir711
nz have their own bomb squad

Putting Lavanini on the bench is smart. At least when hes yellow carded itll be in the second half with little time left of the game. Smart.

sam cane, samapeni finau and reiko not being in show how spot on razor is. Amazing. Intra team competition is strong now. Sam darry is there for the lineouts. Its a great choice. Full backs are stacked. Centres stacked. Wings stacked. Forward pack awesome. Half backs are solved even with roigard not back. Only weak area now is first 5 but just in depth.

how can we change your mind about reece... he is the best wing in NZ and possibly the world
  • @kerrylass2
YES Tim... time has dragged. I thought after coming back from Durban and an endless 55 week long season I was rugbyed out.. Hardly a few weeks go by and despite the olympics ( and rugby 7's) here I am suffering withdrawal symptons and so signed up for a subscription so I can watch the Rugby Championship at 6am in the morning. First time to watch it and can't wait.

I agree with the changes to the ABs in 6 and 13. Finau and Ioane just haven't been good enough. Good to see Sam Darry get a chance at lock. Let the rebuilding phase begin.

Hoping Jordan's concussion issues are sorted so that he continues to upset other nations for years to come ☘
  • @PadstarLs1
Razor selecting players for different styles of rugby nations that team will probably change again for the boks.

I have a feeling that the Pumas will do well at the breakdown and the AB's will win, but by not much. Thank you for the good videos, although I didn't like you when I first saw you 😁 but you're a good chap.
  • Finaus first touch in the first test match against England he got tackled out by Marcus Smith. You can’t tell me Marcus Smith would have bundled Jacobson or Blackadder just into touch. They would have stepped in and tried ti bump him off. Finau hasn’t been the physical beast they hoped. Blackadder you have a guy that will go all day
  • @Samizouza
Can't wait to see how Razor's team goes in Wellington
  • cody taylor will have to pick up his line out game. wasnt the best last few matches

Interesting and exciting selection for the ABs. Looks like plans are to absorb all pressures from Argentina in the early part of the game and then running them off their feet with Ioane and Jordon in the later part. Best opportunity to give McKenzie a break later and shifting Beauden to 10. Beauden hasn’t played there for the ABs for some time. He was initially picked as a 10. Best opportunity to give Beauden a run there … before the matches against the Springboks.

Reiko hasn't been playing well enough. The loose forwards were missing against England papalii and Taylor lucky to start. Lord is short of rugby, like Jordan, but is a very promising lock
  • @good_fats
Big fan of Ioane but love ALB getting a start! He's the real deal. Feels as dependable as old Snakey Smith
  • Great preview, Tim. Well pointed out about Moroni as wing, but given his history and his tackles, I would place him anywhere on the field, excluding as prop, 2nd. row or fly half, and I would field him on any of the best teams in the world, as well. He is a very reliable player. As for NZ, they can field their third best squad and still be unbeatable by Los Pumas. The crowd, as all kiwis are known, will be respectful, so to your disappointment, there should not be any booing. 😇
