The Intercept columnist Natasha Lennard details how the combination of anti-Palestinian, Islamophobic repression and very few worker protections across the U.S. has created a “very dangerous constellation” for academic laborers that is “overwhelmingly only facing pro-Palestinian speakers, not speakers who are supporting Israel’s genocide.” She calls it “the New McCarthyism” on college campuses. “A lot of media attention has focused on the spectacle of encampments and the very, very brutal police response,” says Lennard. “What you also have going on behind the scenes is the targeting of individuals who work at universities."

I saw the violence against the protesters during Kent State and other Vietnam protest actions by the authorities. It's amazing how things were back then and how much they resemble what is going on now.

It's very scary what is happening in the USA now. Thanks for the well presented informative news.
  • For years it's been the case that if you speak out against Israel in the UK your career is pretty much over - the Anti-Defamation League and the League of Deputies (the Israeli Thought Police) see to that. Comments calling this out on YouTube also disappear very quickly.

    Great analysis, Natasha Lennard!

140 of the 193 UN member states have recognized Palestinian statehood since 1988. Media discussions never reveal this fact. Why the omission? Most recently Ireland, Spain & Norway are on board.

  • Thank you Natasha Lennard for your clear exposition of the persecution of supporters of Palestine in America. Be strong and keep up the good work!

Wow it's rare to hear a voice as genuinely posh as Natasha's. She must have come from an extremely well heeled background, so the fact that she writes for the intercept makes her a hero in my book. The best People to fight facism are those that have witnessed it first hand. Tony Benn is a good example.
  • Playing "Pin the tail on the Scapegoat" has always been an integral part of the US life.

Look up the case of Professor Tony Martin of Wellesley College. He dared to teach about the involvement of Jews in the transatlantic slave trade and was systematically destroyed. He also details in his book the infiltration of the academic field “African Studies” and how it is controlled, not by Africans or African Americans, but by the exact groups discussed in this video.
