H addiction is one of the most difficult habits to kick, it often take several visits to rehab before long term management and abstinence can be maintained. Kristen was not attending NA or AA during her tour of Europe. The needle bag and her familiar Seattle surroundings triggered a deep drive to "fix". According to her brother Jason, Kristen's final toxicology report showed she actually died of a combination of H and Coke, commonly called a Speedball. Her alleged dealer was only a 5 minute walk away. This individual, "CM" was renound for selling Speedballs to Seattle rock musicians, according to author Charles Cross in his biography of Kurt Cobain. Patty Schemel also refers to this person in her autobiography "Hit So Hard". By mid afternoon Kristen had "copped". This was the day before the scheduled trip back to Minnesota. There was no nefarious goings on from Courtney or Eric Erlandson, Kristen was already "holding". Her friend Paul had no idea Kristen was planning to use again that same evening. Kristen took her kit and the dope into the bathroom and drew herself a bath. Paul volunteered to sleep in the loaded U-Haul in order to prevent the contents from being stolen.
