I went to Matsuzaki-cho, a small port town in Nishiizu known for Izu Chohachi and the townscape of namako walls. It's been seven years since I've been to Nishiizu Matsuzaki. I took paid leave and went on a four-night, four-day trip. After work on Friday, I drove my Defender directly to Matsuzaki and spent the night in the car at the roadside station "Hana no Sanseien Izu Matsuzaki." On the first day, I walked around Matsuzaki Port, based at Chohachi no Yado Sankoso in Matsuzaki Onsen, which I hadn't been to in a while, and the next day, I walked around the Kumomi and Ishibe areas, based at the food hot springs in Kumomi Onsen, Tairyo.

In the second half of my trip to Nishiizu Matsuzaki, I walked around the Kumomi area, which offers a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and the beautiful blue Suruga Bay.

Kumomi Onsen was opened in 1955 and is a colorless, transparent chloride spring. We used "Kumomi Onsen Taberu Onsen Yado Tairyo" as our base of operations, as it is the most accessible accommodation to Senkanmon (and the food is good, reasonably priced, and suitable for solo travelers), and then climbed Mount Eboshi at Kumomi Sengen Shrine, walked through the rice terraces of Ishibe, and even made the walk to Senkanmon a very tiring two days with lots of ups and downs.

Love the drone shots especially of the rice fields near the beginning - sounds like you were worn out climbing with all your gear! Good video! 👍😊
