Tesla’s robotaxis will likely be plagued by their attempt to overcome an infinite stream of edge cases. I hope regulators aren’t captured by financial incentives and actually consult AI researchers instead of allowing Tesla to do a citywide in vitro experiment.

Interesting how people are seriously ok with self driving vehicles. Incredible. We’re at their mercy. Glitches exist and seems so incredibly dangerous.

I wanted a Tesla really bad. The styling, the battery, and charging technology are really top notch if not the industry best. I was waiting for the new 4680 battery to be the standard before I bought either an X or Y model. Then ruzzia invaded Ukraine and Elon just couldn't help himself and keep all his personal views to himself regarding Ukraine, X, and social issues. Once he started spewing bullshit I was done with him and don't miss getting a Tesla. I don't believe I'm alone. Now its the electric F-150 that's caught my eye and the vehicle I'll get. Elon just couldn't shut up and Tesla is going to pay the price for it.

Buying MO 6 months ago as a hedge against more semi stocks and tech was a great investment

I owned stock in Swedish Match, the company that made (makes) Zyn before it was bought by Philip Morris, and it was a great company. Sad to not be able to have it in my portfolio anymore.

Prof g is making my point. It's not the tax that drives good things in education - It's donations from successful individuals like yourself who dodged tax that drive advancement in education in the right direction.

I recently did a FSD trip in a Tesla between two big cities and didn't have to intervene once. It's getting surprisingly good...but edge cases will be a challenge. People will be less forgiving of an AI mistake than a human mistake. Regarding robotaxi, I think the starting point could be round-trip services like hotel to airport and back where the route is known and you just repeat...like an airport shuttle but without a driver.   As confidence in the AI increases you expand.

Watching you two discuss Tesla is like a blast from 4 years ago

Great quotation about self-driving cars " its all very well having a self-drive car until it goes wrong and Barry from Birmingham decides to fix it himself"

39:30 If cigarette and alcohol consumption are so dramatically sinking, shouldn't there be clear a noticeable decrease the myriad of related illnesses by now? Yes there is a delayed onset of cancer but all sorts of bad effects happen in the short-mid term as well. We think of today as so much better than the 50s when doctors endorsed certain cigarettes as "healthy" - well if health gains from lower acohol and cigarette consumption dont start showing up more clearly at the population level, then maybe history is repeating. We are just exchanging one harmful vice for another and being fooled.

Professor G, Much respect for your donations! Paying back to those that pave your way is humbling and respectful of you. Seriously need more of these so-called billionaires following suit instead of asking for $50+B compensation.

For all the talk about Tesla’s autonomous technology, it is surprising how far behind they are. Look it up. The big ones are Waymo, GM Cruise, Ford Argo, Hyundai Motional, Amazon Zoox, Uber Aurora, but there are at least half a dozen other companies who appear to be far ahead of Tesla in terms of driverless car technology. People seem to ignore this and paint a false picture of Tesla being a leader in the space.

RE: Autotaxis. Rather than a year of AI, it would have to be a year of Infrastructure - there's no way to for self-driving cars to share the roads with us meatbags. I'm reminded of the video about techbros reinventing trains.

What a great lesson in when to know one's limitations
