America The Story of Us is an epic 12-hour television event that tells the extraordinary story of how America was invented. With highly realistic CGI animation, dramatic recreations and thoughtful insights from some of America’s most respected artists, business leaders, academics and intellectuals, it is the first television event in nearly 40 years to present a comprehensive telling of America’s history. Elaborate, ambitious and cinematic, America The Story of Us will take you into the moments when Americans harnessed technology to advance human progress, from the rigors of linking the continent by transcontinental railroad–the internet of its day–to triumphing over vertical space through the construction of steel structured buildings to putting a man on the moon. It is an intensive look at the people, places and things that have shaped our nation, and the tough and thrilling adventure that is America’s 400-year history.

My grandpa was in WW11 and was wounded twice in Europe. He was also one of the brave military men who stormed the beaches on D Day. He went on to Heaven in 2006.
  • I don’t envy the difficult experiences that Americans had during this period. But I do envy the pride that every American could feel knowing what we had accomplished and sacrificed. Today we don’t feel that same pride anymore
  • The American people back then where TRUE AMERICANS I will always lead my life with the bravery those back then had and the willingness to sacrifice their lives for us today, always 🫡

My uncle was a JP driver in ww2. He was driving an officer when they were struck by a mortar round. The officer died, and my uncle lost his eye. When i met him as a child, i asked why he kept one eye closed... he said he sleeps in one eye half the day and the other eye the other half, and he doesnt need to sleep. Lol i was 4 or 5 at the time and that BLEW MY MIND! lol

My father was an AAF gunnery instructor 1943-45, training both fighter pilots and bomber gunners. He flew P-39s, P-40s, P-51s and became a P-63 "pinball pilot" early in 1945. On numerous occasions he requested assignment to a combat squadron, but the AAF kept replying "Nope ... you're a really good instructor and that's where we need you!" Would love to know how many dogfight and strafing downs he was responsible for.

Why does a documentary about WW II feature a 50-star US flag in the intro and thumbnail image?
  • This documentary was Very Well Done. Thank you, and Thank You to all who served during that time in our history, and a Special Thank You to all who gave their life for us, for our Freedoms, and for our country.
