War For the Planet Of The Apes Movie Desciption:

Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

War for the Planet of the Apes is a 2017 American science fiction action film directed by Matt Reeves, who co-wrote it with Mark Bomback. The sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), it is the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise and the ninth film overall. It stars Andy Serkis as Caesar, alongside Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn. The film takes place two years after the events of Dawn and follows the conflict between apes and humans as it has escalated into full war, while Caesar sets out to avenge those he has lost.

Development for War for the Planet of the Apes began in January 2014, after 20th Century Fox viewed Reeves's cut of its predecessor; his return was soon confirmed, along with Bomback's. A conditional 2016 release date was announced in May 2015, which led to a closer and faster pre-production relationship between writer and director. The film shares similarities to Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973), with emphasis on the effect of psychosocial development and interaction of apes and humans. Casting began in August 2015 and finished that October, with principal photography commencing soon thereafter and concluding in March 2016, with filming locations including Lower Mainland and the Kananaskis Range.

War for the Planet of the Apes premiered on July 10, 2017 at the SVA Theatre in New York City, and was theatrically released worldwide by 20th Century Fox on July 14 to critical acclaim. Praise was directed at Reeves' direction, Serkis' performance, visual effects, themes, emotional weight, Michael Giacchino's score, and Michael Seresin's cinematography. War for the Planet of the Apes was a commercial success, grossing over $490 million, and received numerous awards and nominations, including nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Special Visual Effects at the 90th Academy Awards and 71st British Academy Film Awards, respectively. A standalone sequel, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, was released in 2024.

  • Rocket’s character progression is one of the best in this series. He went from being Caesar’s rival in Rise to being fully prepared to die for him here.
  • War of the Planet of the Apes hits so differently. This one made me cry the most when I first watched it on the big screen.
  • @MG-mc6rw
Mell making the other apes sound like fan boys is gold 🔥😭
  • @Boreasnorm6391
I love the progression of how efficiently and fluent Caesar becomes with speaking English. It’s subtle if you’re just watching the movies as they released. But comparing War to even Dawn, Caesar sounds almost exactly like a human. Barely any struggle or difficulty in pronouncing words.
  • @spideyguy3315
The cgi in this film still holds up like crazy. Hands down of my favorite trilogy
  • @Skullzrapper
Caesar leaning into the gun with hatred on his face and tears in his eyes is such an underrated moment!
  • I love that the scene where bad ape tripped while going to grab something was an accident Steve Zahn actually fell and they left it in 😂
  • @terrancebrown87
“I’m not reading all that” in your narrating voice got me 😂
  • @TheGhost-rp3ko
Fun Fact: The actor for Donkey also played the Helicopter pilot in Rise that shot Buck
  • @J-Rod91
12:10 Maurice can talk. You heard him talk in the last movie. Remember when Koba shot Caesar and told all the others the humans had done it so they started running after them. Maurice was walking with them when he turned to them and said “RUN!”
  • @bluesman6891
"Do not worry, Maurice. You are home now. Apes are strong... With or without me." Caesar's last words. Rest in peace, king.
  • @holiczn
I wish they made a movie of Rocket and Maurice being a mentor to cornelius and carrying on ceasers legacy
  • @terrancebrown87
I love when you look over and talk shit directly to us 😂
  • @fromthesea2114
In a deleted scene we learn that the guy in the second movie tried to reason with the Colonel and say Caesar would leave them alone if they did the same. He was killed for it.
  • @ShilohSmith
It’s never really understood what happened to bad apes child, or his family. However when he said “do you think you’ll find him at the human zoo?” He was referring to Cornelius, meaning his son isn’t just captured. He’s gone, bad apes is alone.
  • @jurassicking112
Mellverse Malcolm isnt in this one because the colonel shot Malcolm in cold blood after Malcolm tried to convince the colonel not to go to war with them he called Caesar extordinary and the Colonel shot him in the head there was a deleted scene of the Colonel telling Caesar that he killed Malcolm
  • I like war for the planet of the apes even more because it absolutely looks so much better from my eyes, and I like how Caesar has an emotional story arc after Rise and Dawn after his original owner.
  • @ginahouston9352
it's a Moses story... "let my people go..." and he led them to the promised land but didn't get there himself
