This week on #DriveEveryFerrari an ultra rare manual 4-seater Ferrari – the often neglected 612 Scaglietti.

A continent-crossing luxury grand tourer with a 5.7 litre V12 naturally-aspirated engine, rear wheel drive… and looks only a mother could love. But, a genuine Ferrari performance bargain, and a car that TheCarGuys have been dying to drive.

In this week’s episode we give you a full tour of the inside and outside of this underappreciated car, a look at its history, and of course the full test drive.

Drive Every Ferrari is a series within the main TheCarGuys.tv channel, which aims to get behind the wheel of every Ferrari road car from the company’s origins right up to present day. It’s going to be extremely tough to get them all, but with your help, we’ll get there. If you have a Ferrari that hasn’t been covered yet, please get in touch and see if your car can be the star of a future episode. [email protected]

This thing matured like fine wine... When it came out it was just hideous, but now i see such beauty and elegance.
  • The 612 scaglietti has always been one of the most beautiful Ferrari for me. Taking prices on consideration it would be the one I would buy!

The 612 Scaglietti is gorgeous to my eyes. Real classical proportions and almost a modern 50s style coupe
  • @MrObiwan1
My mates brother had one, took us out in it and the performance was ballistic :) A true gentleman's Ferrari :)

Always loved 456 and 612 was never a disappointment, too! It is beautiful)

I’m currently on a road trip with my 612 HGTC and loving it. We had a serious thrash through the Dolomites and even managed to enjoy a few mountain passes that are already open. Even after almost 6 years of ownership I”m always impressed with how well the 612 handles when you really push on. Most larger cars make you feel like you are abusing them when you attack a really twisty road but the 612 just gets better and better. Everything comes together and it all flows. Carbon brakes are a must for alpine passes though. I’ve driven a steel braked 612 on these roads and they really can’t handle the pace for long. A word on reliability, my car has been super reliable with nothing going wrong in the time I’ve owned it. Just services and tires. Drive it regularly and drive it hard. They don’t like to sit in garages, that’s when the break. Nice review Damian. People may question the looks but most are agreed it drives great.

You’re right about the colour, but they are also very susceptible to the right choice of wheels. The larger Scud style wheels really make it.

One of my all time favourite Ferraris. When Clarkson took this across Europe I watched and fell in love. With the car that is.

The 412 is absolutely gorgeous!! As the 612!! And the last manual was the California! About 30 to 35 where manual! Good content
  • The people that can not appreciate the beauty of this work of art are most likely the same people that can not figure out the art of Van Gogh .

612's looks have aged wonderfully well - I wasn't too sure about it back when it was released but it looks fantastic now.

I love mine. Sits next to my Aston Rapide and whilst the Aston’s v12 sounds brutish the 612 shows that Ferrari have been doing v12s for longer. So much more stylish and elegant to drive. Damian you’re more than welcome to come and have a go in them both..!

I love hidden gems which are underrated. Because they are more affordable for me. Great Car. Very beautifull. love it.
  • @KUROSHURA
I always loved the 612. I remember the one they had in British GQ Magazine and Top Gear. It was a Rubino Rosso one with Cuoio interior. It had the 5 star wheels, Scuderia shields and Giallo calipers to match. It was exquisite.

I've always thought it was a very good looking car. I guess beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
