Thank you! I will be returning on Monday with the kiddos returning two weeks later. I am feeling less stressed after I viewed your video sharing your great ideas and suggestions for success for the first week. You continue to grow as a presenter and I am happy for your success. Your weekly videos are my personal professional development. Thanx again.

Yay - I can finally teach you something that my students taught me! Instead of 'copy' (command c) and 'paste' (command v) you can simply 'duplicate' (command d). I know it only drops one step, but when you have to do it all the time it can add up ;-) Thank you so much for all you do - when I discovered your channel it saved my life when we went online for Covid!

I go back on August 23rd, and I am still working on planning for the first week! This was super helpful!! With your video on how to make a class website, your video about chatGPT and more, you have been super helpful for me this summer!!! Thank you so much!!!! <3
  • This is so good Michelle! The first week is the most important for the teacher because it sets the tone for the year! How you do it is so organized and simple! My fourth grade teacher was perfect in how she set up the first week, and it set the tone for my favorite year in elementary school. She built the classroom community from day one. I still stay in contact with her and some of the kids in that class!
  • Appreciate your view. Focus on the things you can control. Don’t stress over the things you can’t control. Also, I appreciate you pointing out that developing class culture starts on day one by establishing your expectations with the students. I always recommend high school teachers remain flexible. There are so many schedule changes, students will be added & dropped. Embrace the chaos 😊 Another high school tip is to make sure you get there very early. Usually it takes a week or two for the traffic to become manageable. Have a great school year! And keep being a hero!

Michelle, thank you so much for this! I've already had two days of school at a new school and a drastically new grade level and subject area (6th-grade math to 2nd ELA) and I am strugglingggg. This video made me feel so much calmer and more prepared to go back next week and tackle my day more strategically. Been here since your 2nd grade teaching days, love your content!

Hi Michelle, thank you, you’re helping me get my mind around going back. I find the first week one of the hardest to plan, would love to see first week slides.
  • @emilywest1116
I'm not a teacher, and I haven't been in school in many years, but this video got me excited about my "first day of school" 😂😂
  • @amandawilkins8403
Absolutely fantastic video, Michelle! You are helping me get energized and prepared for my first day of school on August 21. I think the order of steps you used is very clear and manageable. Sometimes the hardest part about planning the first week of school is navigating all the unknowns: new students, new schedule, fire drill and other unexpected events, etc. You have made me feel more at ease as I start to tackle my planning. Also, my favorite Office clip was Dwight 's rendition of "We Didn't Start the Fire." Hilarious! I hope you and your family are doing well. Have a wonderful week ahead! 💜
  • Need time allotted to where (extra) back to school supplies will go and unpacking procedures/locker assignments.
