Getting Notary Work in Healthcare Facilities

Published 2020-01-29
Get more assignments and build your Notary business by providing notarization services to healthcare facilities and correction centers. Follow these tips when notarizing for medical patients: bit.ly/HospitalPatients

Hospitals, long-term care facilities, doctor’s offices, detention centers, and prisons all present a unique opportunity for mobile Notaries to earn additional income. These environments often require fast and reliable Notary services for patients, inmates, and busy administrators. While there are no additional certifications necessary to notarize in healthcare and correctional facilities, it’s recommended that Notaries seek additional training to familiarize themselves with the rules and procedures of these institutions.

Presented by Laura J. Biewer, owner of At Your Service Mobile Notary and an instructor at the National Notary Association. Recorded at the NNA 2019 Conference.

Workshop Overview:

00:12 - Introduction, Objectives, and Roadmap.
04:00 - Why facilities are a good opportunity for Notaries. Types of facilities to reach out to, common document requests, and what types of skills you need to be successful in these environments.
29:24 - Patient accommodations and helpful signing tools. Potential delays and opportunities for higher fees. How to build relationships with local healthcare facilities.
38:22 - What to bring and what not to bring to jails and detention centers. Extra precautions and procedures you’ll need to go through. How to build relationships with local jails and detention centers.
43:35 - How to increase your visibility for all types of facilities. Things that will improve your Notary services in these types of environments.

  • I'm a retired nurse and disabled veteran, worked primarily in corrections and behavioral health. I was a notary in PA in the early 90's as a paralegal and it was not as lucrative as it is now. So I became a nurse. I'm interested in doing RON now since I don't drive much anymore. I can't believe how much has changed in notary training. I'm planning to start a new career as a notary now.
