Still can’t believe he doesn’t have a solo movie yet

Really surprised you didn't talk about his closeness with Superman, especially given how Clark was the one to give him his new codename.

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention Nightwing’s experience with the Titans, given that being leader of the Teen Titans really helped Dick become his own man, and helped him transition from Robin into Nightwing. It was what made him realize he could be his own hero, and not just be labeled as Batman’s sidekick. It also proved that he could lead a team, which is why Batman had him lead the Justice League during the Obsidian arc. The Titans also give Nightwing another sense of family, rather than a team. He’s been with his teammates since they were teenagers, and they’re all very close with each other. Not to mention his feelings for Starfire.

How did Blue Beetle get a solo movie before Nightwing!?

Great video! Nightwing is my favorite superhero as well, he is such a compelling character. I love how he has trauma and may get depressed, but he still focuses on hope and happiness as you said. And he really does try to be different than Batman and not externalize his hurt to the people he cares about. The contrast of how he deals with his trauma compared to Batman is a good tension in their relationship. Their dynamic is so interesting, you see in adaptations and in the comic book canon that Bruce will sometimes hurt D!ck (like when D!ck confronts Batman after Jason dies, Nightwing's entrance into Spyral, Bruce firing Robin), but their relationship is still strong and D!ck can understand Bruce's pain and how he is externalizing it. Not that that makes Bruce's treatment of D!ck okay, which they fight about often. D!ck also has flaws and can get angry, but he still chooses to have a strong support structure and focus on hope & happiness. You can see this when he takes on the role of Batman after Bruce's "death", in how he approaches the role of Batman and his guardianship of Damian (though he still goes through it lol). I think it provides such a good example of how you can experience deep hurt in your life and still find happiness. Life may not be perfect, as it has not been for D!ck, but you can still work towards happiness and be a light to others.

I love the way DC creates characters as symbols to look up to, but I have always been drawn to Nightwing because he was written as a more relatable character rather than a role model. There is something refreshing about a boy, just as traumatized as the others, no powers and with every reason to turn out like Batman for example. yet he ends up just being a guy who is trying his best, making mistakes, and able to "stay whelmed" amongst the chaos of DC. Sure Bruce deserves some credit for taking him in, but I think we can all agree that throwing an 8 year old boy who just watched his parents die into the superhero lifestyle isnt exactly model parenting... Bruce needed him more than he needed bruce

He is my one of favorite superheroes (my all time favorite DC one) for a reason.
  • Im so sad his newest solo project got cancelled. This is my favorite dc character of all time and I'm so glad someone decided to give him his flowers on here 🔥

I love nightwing he has always been one of my favourite characters in fiction and he's also similar to one of my other favourite character Rin tohsaka both are one of the most humanized characters in fiction and get quite relatable on points , rin's strong dilemma and nightwing's invaluable journey are one of the most compelling shit i have ever experienced . Sometimes red hood and nightwing even remind of sakura and rin lol . There are so many factors that make dick the absolute peak but a lot of people are misinformed about his character because of the dcau hated how dirty they did him but they still get bits of his writing correct like the scene where slade shot him in judas contract.

Chris Nolan NEEDS to come back one more time for a NIGHTWING movie. Joseph Levitt as Nightwing, Christian Bale as Batman, but Batman as mainly a source of guidance.
  • Nightwing is an incredible character not to mention that the Teen Titans as well as Young Justice pretty much all of the younger heroes pretty much looked at him as their leader. Even the League greatly respects him and probably like & trust him more than they do Batman
  • I think you've actually managed to miss the point. Nightwing isn't better than the Batman because he was TRAINED by the Batman. Nightwing was also SAVED from the mental illness plaguing the Batman by the combined efforts of himself, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth and many others. He his what Bruce might be if he were able to recover better from HIS mental illness. Much of what made that recovery possible for Dick is the personality he brought with him. Not enough has been made of the fact that he was the most popular member of the circus he called home for years. He was everybody's kid, well liked by all the men and beloved of every female there, whether human or not. Elinor the elephant, for instance, adored him! That's part of Dick that hasn't changed. It's his other strength. While he can draw on the pain of his tragedy like the Batman does, he has and uses the strength and support of others in ways that Bruce still struggles with. Bruce has served as both an example of what Dick wants to be, and what Dick DOESN'T want to be, and Dick has used that knowledge to serve both ends. He's stronger than Bruce; he's the Batman's most powerful child. This is why Damien Wayne, if he wants to be a proper son for the Batman, must recognize Dick's worth as the Batman's MOST proper son.

Nightwing’s story really inspired me to write some of my best written characters to help deal with what I went through. Also he should totally get his own movie
