It's fair to say that DC studios has underperformed when it comes to their movies with many of them flopping with both the critics and the fans. And movies still continue to flop Under James gunn. But a recent incident with Gal Gadot has exposed why they have failed as a studio and thats with them firing Gal Gadot, yet Gal Gadot still claiming she is part of DC. That just shows the lack of cohesion amongst the company and it;s team which has been their main issue, as none of their films gel well and with them constantly changing and redeveloping their DCU, which has lead to many fans just giving up on the entire DC company.

When you had so many chefs in the kitchen, there were no directions in the DC studio and constantly interfering with one man vision. This is what tends to happen.

The irony is DC was the one to have massive success with their movies back in the day with Christopher Reeve's Superman movies and Michael Keaton's Batman movies. I remember seeing a comment on a video that said in 1989 Indiana Jones and Michael Keaton's Batman were duking it out to see who could win the most money and in 2023 Indiana Jones and the hyped return of Michael Keaton's Batman in the Flash were duking it out to see who could lose the least amount of money. As for James Gun, dude's a one trick pony. Guardians of the Galaxy, his Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are all essentially the same. They're starting a new DC universe right off the bat with one person's quirky sense of humor, whereas the MCU slowly devolved into that Joss Whedon sassy/ snarky Buffy the Vampire Slayer humor in everything. Gunn's DCCU was dead for me the moment he fired Cavil because Cavil, Affleck and Gadot were all that really worked for me. Edit: Just wanted to add, I was dead set against Jason Momoa as Aquaman because after watching him in Stargate Atlantis as Ronon he came off way more fit as Lobo. I watched the first Aquaman movie and it won me over on him for the DCCU's version of Aquaman. Now he's out as Aquaman and playing Lobo in James Gunn's DCCU. I can't keep up with this stuff.

Hiring Gunn, a director who's filmography leaves me cold, was not the way to get me watching DC movies again. After Aquaman I had to suffer over four years of mediocre to terrible films. No wonder ticket sales for the DCEU died from Shazam onwards. Seven outright bombs in a row now. And they think a writer/ director of peurile, cartoony ensemble comedies is the man to helm a company who's characters are noble, sincere and epic. They took DCEU Superman and Batman away from us for six years. Cyborg too. Hid Flash until this year, then ruined him completely. Ruined Wonder Woman in her sequel. Hid Aquaman for five years...more if his sequel is aborted or delayed. Denied us showdowns with Darkseid and the New Gods. Cancelled the Batfleck movie. But yes, us as DC fans are supposed to get excited that the delinquent behind dreck like Suicide Squad and Peacemaker is now in charge of DC. Might as well draught in Whedon and Waititi too, just to be sure they ruin the brand entirely.

Getting rid of Henry Cavill is a huge mistake. What kills me is that DC backed Ezra Miller, who probably single-handedly tanked The Flash, and yet they canceled the completed Batgirl film. By canceling that movie they had to alter so many things and take away both Henry Cavill's cameo and Michael Keaton coming back as Batman. This is why I hate DC.

Why DC failed in the movies I thinks it’s too many chefs in the kitchen, wrong hiring of writers and directors, misrepresentation of the characters, miscasts of certain characters like The Flash and Lex Luthor, problematic actors in real life, trying to be a copy and paste of the MCU in filmmaking, studio interference in the movies, reactionary decisions, and the toxic fan base (it doesn’t matter if they’re pro or anti Snyder or Gunn they’re freakin toxic).

WELL.. for all we know GAL Gadot is great friends with the CEO of the whole company or something. I mean there's a few people that could override James. I know gal is not an ignorant woman. So I believe her. Bottom line, it's either totally true or someone's lying to HER
  • @garluns
I wasn’t ready for it to be rebooted, hopefully they know what they’re doing with their future plans

There should have never been a DCEU to begin with let alone this new DCU. Just make some good movies, get people excited for these characters again... then if you want to start having crossovers, go ahead and do it. But you gotta do that ground work first.

James Gunn is a hack, and yet people think he is some visionary director. He is not.
  • @tanishambrowne1137
James Gunn problem is confusing fans first he said movies like Shazam 2 and aquaman 2 won't count then saying some of actors are staying and he consistent contradict himself. I keep saying this hes not the hero for DC his biggest mistake for firing Cavil I stopped caring after that point.

As far as DCEU you've produced three decent/good items: man of steel, 1st wonder woman and Justice League, the Zack Snyder Cut. And then you get rid of 2/3 good characters. Black Adam was meh, but could have been interesting to see him clash with Cavil's Superman, you got rid of him too.
  • @Wakozi
Man of Steel and the second Suicide Squad were actually both good movies. The first Wonder Woman too. They just failed when it comes to sequels, or when it comes to putting them together. Tho, the Snydercut was good too. So its more a fault of the executives than anything else.

I like how you conducted a survey, knew exactly what the majority of your fans wanted, and still did the opposite in true disney fashion. Now this is true dedication. Showing the terrible decisions of disney through your own example.

What should have been: Man of Steel, Batman: A death in the family, Aquaman, Flash, BvS, WW, Man of Steel 2, Suicide Squad, Justice League pt1, pt2 and then go from there.
  • @AJAT800
DC should've had Bruce Tim and Paul Ditti be in charge of the DCU in the first place. The guys responsible for the successful 90s-2000s Animated DCU Batman TAS Superman TAS Justice League/Unlimited Batman Beyond Static Shock
  • @Pullmanfan7
Gunn is in charge of creating a new (partially, I guess) rebooted dceu, but Zaslav is still the boss and can still do what he wants. For example, Gunn has no control over Matt Reeves projects or the Joker 2 because they're outside his purview. Sounds like there might be an elseworld story cooking after all, which isn't super surprising because Snyder has been cozy with some higher ups and his movies actually make money. Gunn might not have as much control as he thinks 😂😂

Super Hero movies reached it's peak in 2012 and died in 2019 in my opinion. Just like with Star Wars give it a massive break and create something new and original. We want more and more video game movies. For me I want a live action Resident Evil 8 Village movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro now that will be badass.
  • I love the story from "My adventures with Superman" and "Injustice 1". Why cant movies be like that?
  • @Scylithen
You gotta slow walk then run before you can fly. They forgot the run part. The miscommunication is just a cherry onto of the cup(crap)cake made over the years.
