Surprised you are so down on Drake. You drafted it in an earlier draft and were impressed with it, I guess the pro tour opened your eyes? It seems like a fine common to me

I understand that we try to go for some variety for the show, but I feel like I just keep seeing Jim see and pass enough good green-white cards for a whole deck most drafts, even while the pod might be picking others we don't even see because we signaled them into those colours. Either that, or perhaps the other players tried to leave Green-White for us to pick up and we are instead fighting them on the worse colours. Green is so deep and, beyond White, also goes well with Black or okay with the right Red stuff anyways. Even if you end up GU there's Bonnie Paul running around and you could like, lock up the ground with beef and close with fliers or bounce spells, or even do some Lockpicker Throw From the Saddle shenanigans (or grow & protect an attack by mainphasing Snakeskin Veil from the yard). Green also has Greenblade and Naturalist to splash better when advantageous (particularly for Badlands Revival, Back for More, and Honest Rutstein). With Varmints against so many O-rings in the format, and bad opposing colours who might try to fight with bounce-spells or counters plus great protection spells and recursion cards for real kill-spells not named Consuming Ashes, It seems relatively low risk and highest reward to just get into Green early if you see any of the high picks in it. It seems like this format Jim may have been seesawing between not committing to colours and ending up too many colours with not the best fixing or committing too quickly to the first couple of picks before watching the rest of the best archetype go sailing by. All that said, I'm not sure that I don't just prefer this anyway as a viewing experience over trying to force GW as often as possible. I do favour a good solid GW beats, removal spells, and protection spells Midrange when I play Limited, which is exactly what the set delivers, but this way I get to see how a pro pilots other stuff too, get to see most of the whole format to some degree, and I had the chance to go spam GW myself as much as possible if I wanted to. (I have been watching Jim play this while multitasking and playing other games myself when I sit down at my computer)

This is a deck building / drafting issue. There are things you can do to aleviate mana issues
