"Unwritten" | Solemnity of Christ the King (Fr. Mike's Homily) #sundaymass

Published 2023-11-26
Your part of the story (Act IV) remains unwritten.

Jesus has bridged the unbridgeable gap between God and humanity. We can believe that and remain unchanged. But if we are willing to respond, we can write the final act of the story. We can place ourselves under the Lordship of Christ and live an entirely new life.

If you would like to support Ascension Presents, send us a Super Chat / Super Sticker in the chatbox or send us a financial gift ( tinyurl.com/2mbu7tvx ). Your support helps us provide you with the Catholic faith formation media you know and love. Thank you!

If you would also like to make a donation to the Newman Catholic Campus Ministries at the University of Minnesota Duluth, you can donate here: bulldogcatholic.org/donate/

Finally, we also ask you to continue supporting your local parishes. Thank you and God bless you!

Just leaving this here: Our priest has cancer and tomorrow he starts treatment. If it's okay, I'd like to request prayers for him to make a full recovery. He's in dire need of a Christmas miracle. Thank you.

Whenever I hear Fr. Mike talk about his family, I wish I had a more steady family setup. I am a single woman and I just have my mom and brother, who are both very angry, mentally ill people. I realize that my response to Father is just a variant of self-pity and that I need to put my focus on how I can love and support others rather than collecting love and support, but I wrestle with profound loneliness and occasionally bitterness. The tales of the lake house make me cry. Please pray for me to be stronger and find a way to commit to serving the Lord without waiting for social support or a loving environment. I do attend Mass a few times a week and the Eucharist is sustaining, but I still struggle. Thank you, friends. Praying for Fr. Mike and everyone here!
  • Thank you, Father Mike, because of you I’ve had a heart transformation. I was raised Catholic but there is so much I didn’t know. God Bless you 🙏🏽
  • I pray every day that God continues to give me His beautiful graces, and that my love will grow ever stronger ❤️ 🙏

Amen. "With rights come responsibilities." May we all write Jesus into the center of our stories and follow His lead. Thank you, Fr. Mike! 🙏💙

God bless you and your family Father Mike. I'm caring for my 92 yr old Mom and can't get to Mass , but we truly enjoy watching the Mass and love how you always make the connection to daily life. Sometimes I actually take notes so I can reread things you say. 🙏

I wanted to give up! But God won’t allow me. People have put me down over my situation but God lifts me up! Please God give me strength. I have always kept faith and trust in you. Even as I constantly struggle to provide groceries and basic necessities for my children both of my sons are autistic and non verbal. Walking with faith is all we can do as christian’s. Like most single parents things are hard on me. I’m constantly struggling to pay bills. I’m overwhelmed and now that I’m home schooling my sons my hours to work are very limited. My health is also failing. I suffered a heart attack two years ago and battling lupus. Heavenly and merciful Father, I come in humble adoration please help me overcome my struggles and my constant fears.

Created...Captured and Rescued...ones respond is to allow the Lord to be the center of ones life...that he takes Lordship of ones life...Thankyou Fr.Mike for the beautiful homily...
  • Thank you Fr. Mike for this beautiful homily! I lived under a tyrant - Ceaușescu. And i lived in freedom too. People were not free to do whatever they wanted under that tyrant. A lot of Christians died in communst prisons. With freedom there is more responsibilities ...more.responses

This was a very beautiful series. Thank you! This last homily reminds me of the end of the parable of the prodigal son. You don't actually know if the older son accepts the invitation to enter the Father's house again. We're supposed to finish that story ourselves with our own response to the Lord.

For weeks on end I have been trying to listen to many apologists and theologians to gain knowledge and grow my faith. I felt overloaded and unable to remember a lot. Things have seemed to not be able to break through the barrier of something new or give me that ahha moment as well. Father Mike, I wish I could give you the biggest hug. After listening to your video… I will never be the same. Isn’t it amazing that with such a simple message, you can change a life completely? Thank you for this. I will pray for other’s hearts and minds to be open to feel and to hear what I felt and heard just now.
