Stoner!!!! Yes, yes and yes! McCarthy is also just incredible! I often say that as hard and miserable as life can be-- when I read amazing literature, I often say a prayer of thanks. I'm grateful to be alive to read such great books.
  • You’re becoming my comfort YouTuber the last month, Books truly are sick. A first edition Misery is insane! 🎉
  • @BamPlan

Ive seen you mention that he goes to Columbia University in Stoner. He actually is attending University of Missouri.. which is in Colombia, Missouri.

You should read "This is how you lose the time war". I can only describe it as science fiction poetry. This novella is beautifully written and the prose will stick with you. My new favorite book of the year so far, and I've read two King books.

I love Rear Window! Also Vertigo and The Man Who Knew Too Much--any Hitchcock and Jimmy Stewart movie is a favorite. You're inspiring me to start Stoner. I have been reading the Cormoran Strike detective mysteries by Robert Galbraith. So good!!

I remember reading stoner several years ago and thinking this novel is something different—it's telling me the ordinary life of an extra-ordinary man. His stoicism is what I admired and pitied most. John Williams is a literary genius in my eyes. I wish he had written more novels. I personally love Nothing but the Night by him which reminds me very much of Ernesto Sabato's classic novel "The Tunnel" published in the same year.

Love that movie. The build in tension is quintessentially Hitchcock.
