That’s one thing I always loved about The Outlaw Josie Wales, pulling his cap and ball revolvers out of everywhere
  • ARTHUR JUST HAVE A LITTLE FAITH. WE WILL GO TO.TAHITIIIIIIII (Edit: i did not expect so many red dead redemption fans)
  • Due to my colder weather coat choice.went with the cross draw carry choice.(normal own 4oclock position). after some safe draw practice.i found it to work pretty good.and my accuracy in draw and fire practice.was about equal to my normal own 4 position carry.learning how not to sweep during draw.was actually not to bad of a learning curve.

Imagin carrying 3 or 4 revolvers. Civil war photos have shown that.
  • The Calvary draw works well for a straight drop holster with a retention strap. Being a lefty I had to carry like that a time or two early in my LE career with left handed holsters not being common. As you said - it's practice. Another thing I learned was to draw from the right and palm to the left. Good video. You got me hankering for more.

Thanks for all the history you do. I love the old stories and am amazed my ancestors survived any of it to eventually produce me.

As a long time lover of old west Aesthetic and only recently getting into the real history, I think I’m gonna like this channel
  • @jimmorrison306
I knew an old deputy sheriff here in southern WV that has actually carried a little gun in a hat. He was one of those fellas who always packed a bunch of guns. Also, FWIW, I like that butt forward Calvary draw. It keeps me from printing when I bend forward. Thanks for the videos.
  • @auren5352
This probably my favorite channel at the moment
  • @garylyons3506
My Father was a Texas Ranger and he was the best quick draw in the world until he past away . I personally saw him draw and fire from the hip shoot an oyster can small oyster can at 25 ft away he practice all the time up until his 70s
  • @cleondubois1270
Long ago on a planet far--far away, the "Paladin" rig was my favorite!
  • @Aragorn005
Howdy Guys, awesome videos. As a guy just getting started with old west reenactment I'm really learning a lot here! Best wishes from Germany!
  • @bladerunner752
I've always loved the old west and of course Tombstone is my favorite movie, doc with his shoulder rig always awesome. Love the videos they are always fun and informative. I would love to try reenactment but never got around to trying. I practice quick draw all the time but I can't twirl a six gun worth a darn.😄 lived in Tucson for 18 years and always loved going to tombstone to see the shootout reenactments. Cheers from surprise Arizona 🍻👍😎
  • @dinitha11
This channel is so informative when it comes to research for short films. Brilliant!
  • Your channel has been the primary factor in my ever increasing interest in this rich era of American history. I absolutely love your channel Santee, and really appreciate the efforts you've put into these videos as well as responding to your viewers. :) I'll watch as long as you make these videos.
  • @pamelabrida945
Hey Santee! Unlike Hollywood's gritty glamorizing of the Old West I believe the general rule of thumb back then was never carry a gun if you were hesitant to use it when someone threatened your life. If you drew on a man (or a woman) you better be prepared to shoot first and ask questions (if possible) later on! Thanks for another great video. Take care & God bless!
  • @hambone4402
Anyone else almost miss the T-Rex? Fun and informative video. Thumbs up.
  • @FREEMAN....
As a non American, I've always found impressive how Hollywood completely changed the way you see your past. Movies have created so powerful an alternate reality it has affected your own memory and imposed inaccurate codes and fashions.

My late father was a Border Patrol man in the 1930's through the late 40's. He was a south paw, and carried a Tom Three Persons holster for his Colt .45 New Service 5 & 1/2 inch revolver. The holster was made by S.D. Meyers of El Paso, Texas. It rode high on his left hip, and had a back rake, if I've got the words right. Muzzle pointed to the back a bit.
