  • I'm 61 and just knowing that I grew up with the best rock and roll in the history of music makes me smile with the memory. 70's- 90's.

Growing up, I used to hate it when my dad would play his tapes (eventually cd's) listening to all kinds of rock and heavy metal, specially Cinderella, Poison, Black Sabbath etc. Now that I am older, I realize my late father was one cool dude with an excellent taste in music. Rock on dad, we miss you.

2024 and this song still rocks. Hairbands will never die.
  • I was born in 82 so was still bale to catch much of the great 80s music as a kid. Loved poison, motley crue, and all the other 80s hair bands.

I was the catering Chef for the shots done on stage for this video. Getting the midnight meal ready an oven had an unknown gas leak and blew up into my face when I went to light it. The small blast sent me flying across the food truck all the way to the front and what I thought had blinded me as I couldn't see!! Upon hearing about the situation, Brett came out and sat with me in the food truck keeping my mood up and stayed until the ride to the E.R. came (A P.A. took me in her VW ). Luckily for me I had closed my eyes quick enough so I only had some lacerations on my eye but not across the pupil of my eye. The main reason I couldn't see was due to my eye lids being burned together so I couldn't open my eyes even though it felt like I had. Thank God for miracles as the E.R. Dr put it. AS for the shoot. They had some pyrotechnics issues and they fired the 1st Tech saying he wouldn't give them big enough effects (as you can see they found a guy to give them bigger pyrotechnics, lol). They also were supposed to have more of the Laser Drum Stick shots, but were having a super hard time aiming the sticks accurately to a small (2x3) Poison sign that was supposed to catch fire when the lasers hit it. The only problem, he couldn't hit that sign to save his life. It was about 60ft from him and was always off with the lasers. As I can see from the video they never figured out how to do this, hence the VERY quick shot of the Laser Drum Sticks. Before the injury I was having a blast. Everyone on set was super nice including the Band especially considering what Brett did to make me calmer in what appeared to be a life changing injury. I did a lot of Movie/TV and a couple Music Video shoots back in the day (80's) and it was one of the hardest yet most fun jobs I've ever had being a Chef.. BTW, Thanks Brett for being there when I needed someone!! I hope you all enjoyed this behind the scenes comment. ;) I just wanted to add that the reason the drummer couldn't hit the Poison sign with the laser drum sticks was the Director wanted him to hit the Tom Tom drums and then freeze and hit the sign with the laser beams in one continuous shot, which turned out to be impossible back then without using special Effects that were extremely expensive.

When I was a little kid and staying at the sitter's place I was instructed by her teenage daughter to come and inform her when this video came on MTV. And I probably came on 6 times a day...
  • Over 12 years since this video was posted and almost 9 million views. No idea what an unskinny bop is but doesn’t stop me from rocking out!
  • Born in 1976 so I got to experience coming of age thru my teen years in high school when this music was all new and everyone wore their concert T's to school the day after the concerts. I didn't get to see Poison until a few years after high school but the original lineup was back together. I got to see them at what was then the Starlake Amphitheatre just outside of Pittsburgh. Being from just up the road in Harrisburg, Posion put on one of the best shows I had ever seen. They really pulled it together and left nothing to the imagination. Near the end of their show they brought all of their family members and friends up on the stage so they could experience a taste of the BIG TIME with them in front of all the fans. Brett stuck his microphone up in front of one of his old high school buddies during this song when the band harmonized "Unskinny Bop!" and the guy knocked it out of the park. It had to be a special moment for these guys and something I am sure their family and friends who got to stand up on stage while they played this song and be a part of it with them will never forget...... Great bunch of guys! It has been hard to watch as this kind of good, clean, fun music has been essentially flushed down the toilet in recent years and replaced with crap like Nicky Minaj, Britney Spears and all of this stupid hip-hop crap. Oh well... At least I can say I was there and was a part of all of it even if it was only as a spectator.........
  • I remember the first time I saw this on MTV. I loved Open Up and Say Ahhhh, but this really blew me away. twelve years old!
  • the drum line in this song is just fantastic...by far one of my top favorite drum beats
  • Born in 1986 but appreciate these bands because of their killer riffs and great heavy sound
  • @mjfan4ever2011
"Are we gonna dance or are we gonna play?" Bret: Both. Both is good.
