The chronology of the Planet of the Apes movies is incredibly murky. This is how I managed to connect all the movies.

I always thought the events of the new trilogy were how the timeline originally went before Cornelius and his wife went back in time.
  • @AshGankEasy
One could argue that the original movie is the first timeline, with the Caesar trilogy echoing it in a different timeline caused by all the time travel in the original sequels?
  • @figmillenium
Your timeline makes logical sense to tie this universe together. Thanks!
  • gonna have to take the agree to disagree option here, in the Rise franchise the icarus left earth much later than the 1970's departure in the original, and thus while it's certainly a nod to the original movie it's not the same ship lmao

I saw the tim burton planet of the apes and while I didn't HATE it, I was so thoroughly confused by the twist ending and I assume I wasn't the only one. I bring that up as I only just RECENTLY found a video that explained just what the heck happened in a way that I could understand.
  • The original film does explain that humans destroyed themselves with nukes. The humans in the original sequel were disfigured by the radiation and were able to telepathically communicate with each other. They also talked about how a virus killed all dogs and cats which led humans to domesticate apes, which lead them to becoming slaves, and they adapted and grew smarter. But when they traveled back in time, it caused the original events to happen much more rapidly. The way I see it, Rise - War is set in another timeline, a timeline that was created as a result of the Icarus being used to travel backwards through time, instead of forward. I like how they set up their multiverse, but I hate that it's a catch all explanation to every film nowadays. It feels lazy. Just say it's a reboot.

Giving this a big Proximus style “Yes!” Good job. This is the most reasonable timeline imo. I have always been shocked by those who didn’t figure this out. Most hadn’t seen half of the OG sequels, so that may be part of peoples confusion. This lays it out well. Good job, thank you. Now I can just share this with a friend rather than making something that (again seems pretty straight forward) clear to them.
  • There are no prequels in the original trilogy, that's like saying Back to the Future 3 is a prequel because they went to 1885. Characters from the 1968 film went back in time so it's still a continuation of the original.
  • @gregharper6382
9:03 I disagree that the 3 movies after Beneath TPOTA is are prequels! These characters exist come from the first two movies and travel back in time that’s not the same as a movie being set before the initial MCs existed or are a younger version of themselves

This is insane!! Incredible production and severely underrated, hope you get more views!
  • @davidsenra2495
Why people feel this urge to connect completely unrelated thing? It's a reboot series. This was stated by the producers themselves. You can compare them, it's fun. The end.

in Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Cornelius explained that the first Ape to talk was Aldo not Caesar
  • @DaddyLogan420
You forgot to elaborate on Caesar speaking the word “no”. I got what you were going for when you said “or is it”. But you never returned to that topic when you started talking about the reboot trilogy. I understand that the apes said the first word that was spoken was “no “ by Cesar in the reboot trilogy was actually the starting point chronological wise.

I'm not going to lie, but this guy gave me Matt pat vibes in a good way
  • @RickDaSquirrel
Actually in Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Cornelius said that the first ape to ever say no was named Aldo. Also the Icarus was launched in 73, but in the 2010s in Rise so that doesn’t makes sense

beautiful video bro, this deserves more views
  • Best explanation of thr movies I've come across so far. A lot of theories and interpretation but this is the one that has all the films set in a timeline/timelines that makes the most sense 👌🏽
  • @itzsosuke
Rise, Dawn, War and Kingdom are NOT a literal prequel to the 1968 Planet Of The Apes they do references to them but thats it
