This contracted shoot I'm solo, and hunting invasive feral pigs, goats, foxes and feral cats. The critters are smashing the oats crops and causing all sorts of mayhem. There's a bunch of kill shots in this video running both my 223 Remington and the 6.5 PRC #Smurfgun as I assist these property owners with a few problem animals.

Things kick off pretty quickly in this video with some long range goats and 6.5PRC. Then it's onto camp set-up, interrupted by more goats. As things get dark I roll out the 223Rem and thermal kit. I think you'll agree, it's rather effective!

It was great to be out again in my mate Darren's Wedgetail Hawk Camper and riding around on my Suzuki King Quad AXI 500 ATV. Weather conditions were rather chilly at night to say the least, but it was nice and warm canopy curled up in my sleeping bag. The ability to camp up on the oats crop fence in this rig really did make a difference on this shoot, as you will see.

I'm not shooting for human consumption on this trip, it is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis. Pigs are left where they lay as carrion, nothing generally lasts more than a week in the Aussie bush before it's just a few scattered remains.

Rifles used - I always get asked that !!!

The blue rifle, AKA #smurfgun is an Australian GCPD Arms Elite Series II chambered in 6.5PRC, 24" Carbon Six barrel all sitting in the GCPD Arms fully adjustable chassis. Suppressor is a Shawmac Industries, and I'm shooting Hornady 147gr ELD-M projectiles. Optic is a Japanese made Zerotech Trace Advanced 4-24x50mm FFP fitted with a Pulsar Krypton 2 XG50 thermal clip on.

My 223Rem is a Cat D firearm and I have no wish to show it off further than what's in the content. I'm using 60gr Fiocchi EPN ammunition, and must say, for a 223Rem, it goes alright as you will see !!!

Thermals, I'm running a Thermion 2 LRF XL50 on the rifle. And Telos LRF XL50 monocular.

If you are interested in a thermal or night vision device in Australia, have a chat with Ben from Hunt the Night. He's the best in the business for a very good reason, kind of a nice fella too which helps and he's supporting the channel to get you this type of content.

I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the equipment being used, both my mate and I hold the necessary permits and licences when working under paid contracts in NSW. This isn't hunting. It's professional pest control. If you are seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details in your state. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.

Please don't ask how much I earn or how to become a contract shooter. I'm not a business adviser. The requirements and information vary state by state. If seeking this information, research your own states legislation. I get this question a LOT, and it's not a path I wish to go down on social media.

EDGE of the OUTBACK Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless
  • @cptpharket9701
you are doing a great job . after getting back into the hunting i cant believe how bad the feral problem is now and the farmers that complain about the damage that is being done by the pest but still refuse to allow hunting on their land . we have a deer problem here that everyone want the government to fix when there are so many hunters ready to do it for free for the chance to harvest a feed
  • @gavinbowmer4194
A very enjoyable video to watch. Watching you work almost removes the necessity for me to go hunting myself. Almost.
  • Thumbs up as always. Impressive marksmanship, camera work, commentary with a bit of humor added. The vehicle you traveled and camped in was high tech, as well as the quad equipped for night ops. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

You can really shoot, mate! Those running shots are harder than they look. Great video!

Hey Nathan, I have always appreciated the time and effort you put into your videos. The dedication to improving the production and editing of the content, over the years, is displayed in this professional, awesome video. Well done brother, I spent so much of the video appreciating how well it was all put together, I am watching it a second time for the hunt!!
  • Excellent content. Can’t believe how many feral pests there are over there, it’s non stop! Oh, and I just want to thank you as you gave me the idea to start my own Patreon account because of the constant treading on thin ice with YouTube and their anti-hunting restrictions. Keep the content coming.

Can't wait for you to put out a video!! I live in Tennessee but where I live we don't have a big pig problem yet but it's coming. It's all around us and moving. Thanks for all the effort you put into bringing us along.
  • Really enjoy your videos. When they pop up in my feed it is an immediate watch. I appreciate an efficient pest remover.
  • @calibreman
Another action packed video Nathan, well done mate. Geoff. UK.
  • Got to love the zerotech scopes I got one off the first they brought when they started up and it has not let me down, great video as usual mate.
  • Another great video. Here in The Bahamas we also have problems with invasive species. Cats , Dogs , hogs goats and now raccoons killing native wildlife . The only difference is that locals here like to eat most of them . Wild hogs can be sold for $2 kilo whole . Can't imagine how overrun the islands would be if invasive species were not dealt with.
