Thank you. I made a tutorial video on how to get Azerothcore up and running and the response it's received so far was unexpected - it's at 30,000 views in one week. Way more people are interested in running their own WoW server than I thought! Thanks for all the work you and other developers have done, and especially sharing the source and keeping it open. That is the spirit of the internet!

I really don't care about WoW private servers, I maintain an active subscription on the official service at the moment, but I absolutely care about Open Source. Thanks for calling out the widespread server admin practice of violating the licenses these are shared under.
  • @saxxonpike
Licenses keep honest people honest, but let's actually be honest for a moment, pserv fixes never come back to Mangos or TC. That's never going to change. It's about premium features and cash flow. That said, I appreciate what you have to say about this situation, and thank you for operating ChromieCraft as such. I just started publishing my fixes to TC and AC. Tired of the pserv jank that could be fixed in one spot as opposed to just one server ever.

Must respect to ChromieCraft, this is how things should be done. Volunteering all of the work to make the community better as a whole. Great video, thanks for sharing this philosophy
  • @TC86
Super thankful for all those who contributed to the open source project collaborations - would never have this option to enjoy with my sons to this day. BIG thank you to any and every one of them that contributed and continue to contribute to them!!!
  • I knew none of this. Thank you for laying it out in such an understandable and fascinating way.

Amazing video, didn't know about whole open-source core's stuff. Thank you for this video and for ChromieCraft server, keep it up!

Basically it's like people wasting time re-inventing the wheel, when they can instead work together to have the wheels going to work on other parts.

I have so much love and respect for the devs at Chromiecraft. Thank you so much for the hours and hours of nostalgia

Good talk, please share more of ur pserver emulation, im very interested in the architecture(client,server,’etc..) of wow
  • Ive done GM volunteer work (yes this is how they trick 15 year olds with a passion for wow backend stuff to work for free!) on some smaller private servers and you are absolutely right, so many times the Devs had bugs that really messed up the games, we as GM's couldnt fix it because it was related to a deeper underlying problem we could bandaid it (respawn a mob, put the mob back on the right pathing, despawn a mob) but it would often happen again and again. Then the open source community would put a fix up for a similar problem (or literally just the same problem) and then suddenly poof the problem would be fixed. And the devs would often just steal the credit when I had come to find out it was basically just download and apply lmaooo
  • Thanks, I started contributing to AzerothCore thanks to this video. I really would like to join Chromiecraft.

Modules, That's the reason why I'm into the AzerothCore at first sight. Imagine if all devs do cooperate on a same project, that would be a mess of code all over the place. in my opinion modules make cooperation with a large group of devs possible.
  • @rocket_hops
bless you for putting the original in the first few seconds and the description
  • Honestly this is the best private server I've ever played. So cool to see a stance like this in the pserver community. Thanks CC!

Hello, your video inspire me to make my own wow server and create a diferent experience than the normal wow, i have a ton of questions, im new, but everything ill do will be public for everyone to enjoy and tweak to their desire, so if you could help me, or point me in the correct direction, ill thank it for life, also i love your content and the server youve built. Keep it up kings
  • @serijas737
This is something I catched up with in Epsilon WoW. Being elitist about what they do and very hostile to anyone trying to assist them. I got banned for asking to fix an .m2 model and told that I was "trying to stirr shit up" We need a new form of Private server called Open-Source Server or something like that with a more free philosophy. This is pretty exciting and I'd love to get into this.
  • @JohnDoe-tt4fm
Great video, I agree with this philosophy. I think I will try out ChromieCraft.
