that carp was a genuine surprise lol, i remember my mom taking me out fishing when i was like 12-13, she was bass fishing and i was just sitting in the back of the boat bobber fishing for bluegill/crappie/perch and all of a sudden the drag started screaming, it ended up being a 22lb common carp that i fought for over 40 minutes on an ultra light with 4lb line, i STILL have a picture of it on my nintendo DS a whole 10 years later, honestly one of my best memories

Your videos sometimes bring back old memories! A little over 50 years ago my wife and I used to go to her folks' house for Sunday dinner, and after dinner I'd wade-fish the Tioughnioga River (upstate NY) behind their house for smallies and panfish. I was fishing a Panther Martin spinner on an ultralight with 4 lb test mono, and was catching lots of rock bass, smallies, and shiners, when on one cast retrieve stopped like I'd snagged on a big rock. Not a rock, but a 15 lb carp that had inhaled that spinner! I used to run with the drag set really light, and that fish just ran me back and forth in the short stretch of water he had to swim in, until he got tired and I managed to kick him out of the water onto a gravel bar in mid-stream. He had the spinner way back in his throat, but I managed to get it back, then kicked him back into the water. FIrst time I ever caught a carp on an artificial lure. I'm 81 now, and she and I still like to go fishing - I'm going to be fishing on the St Lawrence for a few days this week, land using a bunch of the things you've shown us on these videos! Thanks for putting out a quality production! We really appreciate it!

    I’m a simple man. I see a 7 lb carp landed on 6 lb flouro, I subscribe.

I love how minimal you are with taking takle our on your kayak. Really sets you apart from a lot of anglers, myself included. I'm trying to cut down on the amount of stuff I bring and just enjoy the water and nature. Great video as always!

Pretty much totally new to fishing. I was only ever really knew fishing as “stand in one spot casting for hours and hope something bites eventually” I really enjoy your understanding of where to go to catch what fish you want.

As you were playing the two carp I was struck with the fond memories of one of my lifelong friends with who was born blind. He was a person blessed with a positive outlook (his pun) on everything. Through the years he always told me his tennis game was weak but he could fish with all our gang and everything he caught was whatever we were targeting 😅. He could fillet like Samurai. Thanks for taking me along.

I love this little Walmart mini-series. Would love to see more cheap or value lure series
  • I watch your videos to get away, I love the sound your paddle makes when it hits the water. Let us all keep in mind we are still so lucky to be able to have freedom to go about and fish as we please. God bless you all.

Not many youtubers left like you sir, hats off. No swearing, no yelling, just good clean content with bonus family values.

meanwhile in europe we invest hundreds of dollars in baits and rigs to catch a few carp and you are catching with a 5 dollar jigghead. i would love to live in north america just for the fishing. great video !
  • Relaxing day on the water putting the Ozark Trail Carpie kit to the test. Also not a fan of plastic floats. But all things considered not bad for 5 bucks. Thanks for taking us along Matt. Blessings brother FYI I believe one name I've heard for that pink and green is the electric chicken. Groovy

Not sure why I feel obligated to comment again but life’s just been a bit difficult lately and his videos along with Richard gene the fishing machine have helped me out MAJORLY. This is a genuine creator man. ❤️ tight lines all. God bless.
  • My favorite small bobbers like these are the Thill fish’n foam floats, weighted. They are solid foam and will never leak. Got mine from Walmart.

For a while there I thought maybe Ozark misprinted their label, and actually meant it to say: Carpie Fishing Kit. 🤣 Thanks for sharing this spring day with us. 🎣😎👍🏼

Catching a carp on plastic, especially crappie/panfish presentation is INSANE SIR. HOLY CRAPOLA!!! I AM IMPRESSED!
