I like playing mercy a lot, but the thing that annoyed me the most in this video is the mercy just refusing to move forward. They had a widow for a majority of the rounds so avoiding sightlines is a good idea, but there were multiple times where the mercy didn't want to use alternative cover or moving with a DPS (like the soldier in the beginning). Being safe is good but being too safe is crippling.

I feel like this Mercy got overwhelmed really quickly. As a support most often you have the freedom to position yourself in places where you can "oversee" the teamfight. The movement is good but didn't always seem purposeful, there should be reason to GA not just because the button is available. And then ofc what was said, give the dps more priority and trust your other support more to care for the tank.
  • Some of you commenters are why I won’t shoot for vod review coaching. You are being cruel to someone that WANTS to get better.
  • @ferchsakura
Ngl this is the first time I have seen a mercy be THIS scared to move forward. They really did have Ana positioning- which doesn’t rlly work when Mercy is a very ranged character.
  • @Neferum
What I like about you Emongg, you aren't very judging despite them wanting criticism, so you are very understanding why they did something questionable lmao, good content as usual tho
  • As a gm1 mercy main, the main issue this person has is definitely their positioning and target priority. on many occasions they just abandoned their dps to follow their tank. like i promise u the tank has 500 hp and is going to be fine 😭 so more than anything she would get so much more value going with soldier to pressure widow and the other supports without over extending. there’s also so much unnecessary movements that just overwhelm them so i feel like they just need to calm down a bit lol

the spam crouching triggered my motion sickness bruh
  • @nxtsuh
To all mercy mains, please go with your DPS if they're taking a 1v1 or flanking or making huge plays in the backline. Stop pocketing your other healer, stop pocketing your tank, trust your other healer.

I love roller coasters but I still got motion sick from this. I feel like the extra movement is just making the game harder for no reason. Why stand behind a bus 100% safe and wiggle around like a crackhead? Try standing still, I think it will help you see what's going on around you and maybe make better decisions. Good movement overall though. Another tip that's helped me is just asking myself questions: why did I die there? Who needs my resources the most? What's my purpose in life? Why did Dad leave? etc. I respect the grind.

I’m definitely going to be watching this video whenever I need a reminder tbh- I get stuck in habits very easily, with the crouch spamming and tending to pocket the tank over my dps. I’ll be sure to send in a vod worth reviewing one day >:) but the advice I got from this video was really helpful and i’m happy this vod got chosen ^^

I do not like the res at 3:33. With the point capped, Attacker spawn moved up to right next to first point, which means Illari is not long walking - she spawns right next to the team. She wasted a 30 second cooldown to save the Illari like, 5 seconds.

speaking as a support player who climbed from bronze to diamond playing mostly ana, lower level mercy players do not realize how much they nerf their flex support partner by perma pocketing the tank. you can't heal a tank up as quickly as even a mediocre ana player, but when you ignore the team's dps and only heal the tank, you take away so much ult charge from your flex support and your dps can't hold off angles for good damage without dying. every flex support ult in the game is better than valk, help your other support build their ult by healing your tank.
  • @bigfudge2031
If you are just going to heal every single teammate the second they take damage and barely ever damage boost the dps and instead get your own pistol out every 5 seconds to shoot people, there is no reason to pick Mercy when most of the supports in the game can do that better. Mercy has damage boost, something that no other support has, you need to be using it, otherwise, you are not getting enough out of Mercy.
  • @zorablaise636
I used to play Mercy because I love the movement she has, but if your team is not getting the kills, or you are not target prioritizing, then you won't climb. Playing mercy as a one trick works if your team can do most of the heavy lifting with kills, but sometimes you have to go moira and pressure their squishys
  • @djinscar2304
This mercy player is the exact reason why I dont like seeing them while I grind my dps games. They either never pocket you, or just pocket you long enough to give you confidence to make a play just to leave you the moment you need them. the fact they opened the game by dual healing the sigma and never even looked to see where the dps were, all you need to see to understand why they've been stuck.
  • @phredbookley183
I remember typing once "Please don't damage boost me while I'm invisible." But I don't remember if they changed that or not: If Sombra's position is given away because of Mercy's beams.
  • @dudeitsexo8416
as a mercy player who was one hard stuck in lower ranks, this mercy should definitely work on focusing more on her dps. when i play mercy, i rarely touch my tank unless it’s absolutely needed or i know the damage boost will be efficient. i understand that as mercy, i expect to be focused when moving with my dps but her movement is good. she could easily maneuver to safety if her dps pushed too far. like she definitely understands how to play the game! i really hope she takes this feedback and climbs out of silver!
  • @Real_MisterSir
Looking at this gameplay I get the feeling that they're having to fight a horde of mosquitos while they're playing. Jumping around and looking around frantically all the time, acting like there are GM widowmakers at every corner hailing hellfire on them.. CHILL. RELAX. You're in silver. People can't aim for shit, as long as your positioning is fine you got nothing to worry about. Put that effort into looking what your team needs, what they're doing, and how you can assist them - instead of overfocusing on your own twitchy frantic playstyle where you're constantly dodging your own demons or some shit. Relax, play more proactively with your dps, have a fallback option in mind, and don't tunnel vision on your tank. Supporting your dps means they can take off more pressure from your tank anyways.
  • This person listened to the crazed dude on TikTok who insists mercy should pocket the tank
