Nice and easy on this song… Metallica just wanted to write their signature slow and heavy song for the album… Much like Eye of the Beholder and Sad but True on their respective albums… Drop the low E down to D for this one….

  • THANK YOU for doing this in drop tuning which is CORRECT and how Metallica recorded the song. (they were actually in Drop C# per a recent Kirk Hammett interview)

    This is a great video and it's how I originally learned to play this song. I later learned that Metallica actually plays it all very different. Guitar is in d standard and power chords are all 3 up from what ur playing. Also the clean rhythm route note is the open d string
  • The tuning is DGCFAD just like Sad But True. There is a video of Kirk playing riffs from the song and he is not in dropped tuning.
