I traveled to Manila to surprise my unexpecting Filipina girlfriend for her birthday. We had been in a long distance relationship for one year after I had lived in Manila for a few months. I flew across the Pacific Ocean to I visit her early before she was expecting me and caught her reaction.
We will be traveling around the Philippines and doing a whole Youtube video series of places off the tourist track. Hit the SUBSCRIBE button and the notification bell to stay up to date on those adventures.

You guys look so good together. I met my Filipino wife in 1989. We have three children. They are 29,27 and 17. I hope the best for you two. I'm going to be back in the Philippines with my wife in May.

Somehow YouTube recommended your video, I must say that I enjoyed it. Many Filipinos love a genuine love story which I believe yours is :) My husband is American and we've been married for 13 years but I was already here in the U.S. when we met. Looking forward to your adventures in the Philippines!

I did almost this exact same thing back in early October for my girl in Cebu. The difference was we had never met face to face. I'd bought the tickets back in June, and for various complicated reasons the trip was canceled and uncanceled twice but finally, definitively CANCELED in early September (all because because of vague objections from her family). But the ticket was nonrefundable, and I already had the time off work ... So I decided I would just show up and see what happened. I even did the bogus "I'll be offgrid while travelling cross country" ruse. I told her I was going to Melbourne and beyond. I didn't actually say I was driving, but allowed her to fill in the blanks that I would be driving. Melbourne was the first leg of my 3-plane flight from Adelaide, followed by the long haul from there to Hong Kong, then the short hop from HK to Cebu. See, we'd had our first sit down in a restaurant date only a week before. It was at Macdonalds, one in my city (in South Australia) and one in hers (in Talisay City), so I arranged for her to go to the exact same Macdonalds again in Tabunok to have a repeat date. I knew her Macdonalds was right across the street from my hotel. I waited 24 hours just in case she realised the significance of the calendar date, and, brother, that was the hardest thing for me, being a 20 minute tricycle ride away from her and still having to pretend that I was in a motel in some podunk town in Australia. And was she ever surprised. She couldn't speak for nearly two minutes. I was worried I was getting the answer I'd feared, the worst case scenario. Then she regained the faculty of speech, came around the table and hugged the stuffing out of me. And everything went brilliantly from there.

I dated my Cebuana girlfriend for a couple years LDR. It's now been 28+ years of marriage. :) Godspeed Dave!

My wife is Filipina too, born in the USA but her mom is like hardcore Filipina haha, non stop cooking, working, cleaning etc. sweetest most loving mother too. Family there means a whole different thing than here in the USA, always blows my mind when they FaceTime us and there’s sooooo many people to say hello to and for us to have our son say hello toπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
