The prospect of a new major war seems to excite young people whose parents haven't seen it either. My father was drafted with his whole school class to work the FLAK in WWII, they were NOT enthusiastic about it. Later he was taught to become a transport pilot, when he graduated, the germans didn't have the airplanes any more. Then at 17 he was sent to the western front, received a shot through his left elbow which was treated by three consecutive amputations. No Antibiotics, no anaesthesia. I only knew him with just one arm + what is called today PTBS....(something that does effect the next generation as well) He could only bare to watch "entertainment war movies" because they were so "hopelessly unrealistic"..... Though I'm german, my main language has become english. And let me use it to say this: calm down folks, think about the outcome, don't be stupid....!

The main weakness of specialization is that if one country is taken out quickly, the rest of the alliance permanently loses their contribution. i.e. when the country responsible for tanks gets unexpectedly taken down quickly, now the rest of the alliance will not get any new tanks in the short and medium duration. This can quickly become a disaster.

Chris, I am grateful for your insightful analysis and compelling narration. As a history enthusiast, I find it alarming that a large-scale war could be on the horizon in Europe. The potential consequences of such a conflict are deeply troubling, as it could result in widespread devastation and setbacks for humanity, possibly spanning hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

For those who did not believe Poland would form a 300k size army. We are already ahead of the planned elargment.
