FIRST TIME HEARING HOME FREE - MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW - REACTION!!!

Don't judge with one song that might not be your type of music. Home Free is the best ! They do a huge variety of music and each have a very impressive vocal range. They will make you dance, cry and fall out of your seat laughing. They have great personalities and sense of humor and are genuinely good people. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range and Adam, the beatboxer, is unbelievable.

This is one of the most popular Home Free songs. It was the first song I ever heard from Home Free & I was instantly hooked. It really showcases the talent of these 5 men (their tight harmonies, Tim Foust's bass & Adam Rupp's incredible beatboxing). They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old (about 100 yrs.) & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney. Not only do they do awesome covers but they also have a lot of original songs as 3 of them are songwriters.

I was wondering when you would figure out that they are an all-vocal group, no instruments and they do all genres of cover songs and also have originals. This song was a cover song and it was a song that was in the movie O Brother Where art Thou? and it was country-based but go check out their cover of Boyz II Men's classic "End Of The Road" I'm sure you will probably recognize that cover it's iconic and remember, they do not use instruments, all of it is vocally produced.

Home Free is the only 'country acapella' vocal band, though they do all genres - and if that's not your thing, that's fine! I hope you realized that there were no instruments involved whatsoever - the drums, harmonica, jaw harp, crickets chirping ... all of that was the human voice :) The song itself is an old folk song, a little tongue in cheek in its lyrics (The George Clooney movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou' played it for comedy actually). If you do end up listening to any other acapella music, headphones are a must - there are so many subtle layers to it that even the best speakers lose. Goodluck

Home Free calls themselves country but truthfully this is one of the most country of the songs they have done. The song itself is very old , around 100 years, so has a very very strong southern country sound, which Home Free emphasized in how they sang it. I would suggest checking out their covers of "End of the Road" , Listen To The Music", "Love Train" or "Can't Stop The Feeling". Or if you want a taste of their sense of humor check out their "Butt's Remix". Like I said, they lean country but they don't confine themselves to a label like that and pretty much do whatever they feel like. If you still don't care for them, then it's all good.

The song "Man of Constant Sorrow" may be hundreds of years old, but the first recorded version was by Richard Burnett around 1913 under the title "Farewell Song". In 1927, Burnett recorded another version for Columbia, but it was never released and the master was destroyed. The first commercially released version was by Emry Arthur in 1928, accompanied by banjoist Dock Boggs. The voices of the Soggy Bottom Boys who sang i t in the movie ' O Brother, Where Art Thou' were provided by Dan Tyminski (lead vocal on "Man of Constant Sorrow"), Nashville songwriter Harley Allen, and the Nashville Bluegrass Band's Pat Enright.

They’re a cappella so no instruments. Beatboxer is amazing. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing bass up to the tenors. Home Free won the Sing Off in 2013 and sing all genres. A 3 out of 10? Nah. Super talented men. Try End of the Road, Blue Ain’t You Color, Butts Medley.
