Behind the Scenes timelapse:    • Eclipse 2015 shoot - BTS

The Solar Eclipse on March 20th was fascinating to watch. I stayed up all night waiting for it and filmed the the changes from night to dawn, sunrise to eclipse and back to day again. There was Aurora Borealis, stars, momentary fog and loads of airplanes shooting across the sky to catch a glimpse of the eclipse.

This had to be planned well in advance which took many hours but it was nothing compared to the post processing of the tens of thousands of high-res images that were combined to make the video and transitions seamless. The shoot itself lasted 12 hours.

The solar eclipse itself was layered on top of the wide angle shot, so basically these are two videos. If the 4K turns out good, you should be able to see a sunspot.

The song used is licensed from Premiumbeats, is called "We'll Be OK" and the artist is "Sergei Stern". Due to the length of the video I had to re-mix it a bit.

I don't know if I'm the only one. But I shed tears. Tears of joy and I thank you for sharing this with us! It was amazing! This year. There is the 2017 total solar eclipse. I hope that weather and plans and everything cooperates because if it does. I will be watching my first TOTAL solar eclipse!!! 100%!

I cannot believe this only has 2k views, I wish I lived in ICELAND!

Wow, great work putting this together. Surprised this doesn't have more views. I think you'll get more hits in the coming days :)

It's stunning how long it takes for the sun to rise after you see the dawn light on the horizon. Almost 3 hours. Fantastic timelapse! Good job. I think it took several hours of work to put things together like that. Cheers!
  • Fantastic time lapse of total eclipse. Echoing what at least one other poster mentions however, i'd love to see this identical video but perhaps in 1/4 speed. This way the totality of the eclipse would be better visualized. Thank you for your fantastic work and musical score to accompany it.

I MUST know the song, just watching this with the music makes me feel so satisfied watching the eclipse.

This is one of the best videos I've seen of an eclipse. Excellent Work. My only suggestion would be to slow down the time rate at total eclipse so the shadows can be seen more easily

The music really helped in making this video great.

Imagine having the chance to see a solar eclipse in person but that day the sky is cloudy, I would probably catch depression 😭😭

Wonderful, excellent you had the telescope / filtered view of the eclipse progression on the lower left, leaving the broad view of the scenery as darkness set in. Perfect! Thank you for sharing.
  • The coincidence involved for this to happen is insane!!! Only very few other planets with life out there would see one like ours!
