Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Surely with vertical grooves, if you don't hit exactly straight through the ball, they will add spin?

Thanks for reviewing Yonex. I always like when the less popular brands are reviewed. Yonex used to be pretty prominent, but now, they are very rare and harder to get here in the States.
  • I have used Yonex for the last few years. I have a driver, 3 wood, and 4 hybrid in the bag. I absolutely love them. I bought all of them while I was in South Korea. Yonex markets mostly in Asia so getting them in Europe or the US is a bit tricky.

A couple of years ago I bought the new (at the time) TM Sim2 Max OS irons. And they have helped with forgiveness and distance for sure. Had played with 15yo Yonex Rekin Super 10 irons for a long time. Got to love them. Kinda miss them. I'd consider this driver for sure in a year or two when it drops in price. I'll still be a low 90s golfer I'm sure. But I do like the look of that club.

The straightness of most of those drives is impressive. Petition to have Rick put it in the bag

I had a 9 degree Yonex driver way back in the early 90's. Wasn't titanium and was some sort of composite. It was a great driver and could hit it 300 easily and straight. It eventually split and that was that. But still, one of the best drivers I ever had.

Rick's reviews are excellent! The music in this one is distracting in my opinion. Rick's reviews are music by themselves! Thanks.
  • I still have 2 Yonex drivers from yesteryear .. I think they were one of the first companies to use a carbon crown and were always at the forefront of graphite shaft technology.
  • @calrowles3235
I had a Yonex driver in the 90's, I think that Phil Mickleson was using one at the time.

Why not change from the Foresight range to various courses that are loaded onto the system to show an ‘actual’ scenario when testing these? Surely that would give a greater perspective on the misses. All the data can still be captured too! 🤞🏼

Phil Michelson was a big Yonex guy, would be fun to do some retro Yonex reviews, I remember when they were the most expensive in my Edwin Watts catalogue! Going back a few years lol
  • Hindsight is a wonderful thing, as one of my favourite drivers (that btw I regrettably no longer own) was a Yonex Driver. Many years ago I used to have a bag that consisted of Irons, woods & Driver. Before I moved to Ping I used Yonex. And rated them back in the day.
  • I can remember seeing Yonex golf clubs back in the late 90s and early 2000s and Yonex was crazy expensive for the clubs back then.
  • @RumzDizzle
I do love their tennis rackets… not sure about a driver though.
  • I've got an old Yonex 5 Rescue in the bag (also had a 3 rescue recently but broke it). Absolutely love it, although it is probably about 20 years old now.
  • One of the best drivers I ever owned was a Yonex Carbonex II driver. They went downhill after those. I wish I could find one again, just to see what it's like with a modern ball.

Rick your swing has really shortened up over the years. I think you need to go back to the longer backswing that you had when you did the 350 yard drive challenge with Pete. Even Bryson tried to get you to push that club further away from yourself. From the down the line camera view, you hinge that club up pretty quickly
