How to Build Up Color, Contrast and Depth in Your Acrylic Painting (Lion and Solider series)

It often takes many layers to make an acrylic painting great. In this video, I'm going to build up more depth in my painting of the Lion and the soldier by adding a glaze of raw umber dark, ultramarine blue, and phthalo blue into the background. The phthalo blue has just a bit of that greenish tint to give the canopy of trees more flavor, and I think it will make the environment in this scene even more dramatic! The dark background will really help the bright, warm colors in the fire to stand out. I hope this video shows you how you can add more drama in your paintings by the use of contrast and color.
