Electric type Pokemon are very frail, but speedy and powerful... Can they beat Pokemon Emerald's greatest challenge!?

We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Emerald Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Electric types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

  • "During which she hit every single 80 percent accuracy move she used" Yep. That's a Nuzlocke alright.
  • @Gwynbleidd1724
Emerald is up there as one of the best games to watch a nuzlocke in. Going to enjoy this
  • 14:41 Answer: He built a time machine, traveled to Gen. 8 remake Sinnoh, went to the underground, and caught a level 22 Magneton.

Who needs to be part of the notification squad when you're already a part of the "constantly refreshing YouTube" squad? Looking forward to this video!

Maaaaaaaan, having Explosion in the first attack slot on Electrode was playing a dangerous game. One misclick and there goes your upside down Pokeball 🙃

Man I always get so excited when you upload…going through a rough time right now,and your videos definitely help lighten my mood. You deserve wayyyy more subs!

I've always thought Hidden Power is an element that counters the type you are weak to. Because I rarely used it before, the few times I've used it it's coincidentally always super effective to the enemy's type. Many years later, on this day, I just learned the type and power is calculated and not fixed, lol.

4x weakness team! Scizor, Paris, Swampert. Would be a real challenge to pivot!

Fun fact: leading with an electric type boosts the chances of encountering Pikachu in the Safari Zone. It's a cool trick, especially if you want to get ahold of a light ball to breed a Volt Tackle Pichu.

The Hidden Power Gods have blessed Silph today, as he got a Hidden Power equivalent to a Grass, Water, and Ice, just as his Electric-team needed for those Ground-types (the one with Manhattan the Minun came in really clutch)
  • @DeftestAphid2
I wonder how interesting a bug only run in X and Y would be. Especially with the high amount of encounters found on the same route.
  • Glad to see other people enjoy Minun. Little guy has served me well in an Emerald Nuzlocke as well.
  • @tamalover96
Silph: “..and also, Allen evolved into …. round electrode.? How else do you describe this thing?? Like come on!” Me. (Intellectual): “upside voltorb… yes”
  • It's sad how electric types still have very few type combinations. It's hard to build a diverse team with what we got. I hope Gen 9 fixes that.
  • HGSS Druid challenge idea: Available types: Grass, Water, Rock, Ground, Bug, Poison, & Flying. No secondary types that are not among these are allowed, for example: no Dragon/Flying or Psychic/Grass. Only berries, medicinal herbs, and apricorn balls, must trash or sell man-made items found on the ground. This would also work well in Hoenn games because of how many grass and water types there are, and the evil teams are essentially ecosystem terrorists, though you wouldn't be able to get apricorns or have the berry pots. This was just an idea I had that I wanted to share.
  • @emmareiman64
Manectric gets a time to shine~~ Nice~ Minun also did really well here, like surprisingly well honestly, quite impressed
  • @splitfunnies
29:34 I like to think about as if it were irl? Like literally, at that moment, the three best pokemon trainer (pretty much) in all of Hoenn are in one spot. Seriously, what a squad
