What to Do When You Find Brood in Supers

Published 2023-06-02
It's never fun to find brood in honey supers, but if you don't use a queen excluder, this is very common! In this video we check on a hive's progress filling supers, discuss when to NOT add another super, and what to do with brood found in supers.

How do you pull frames and drop them in so fast? I always have bees in the way and have issues putting frames back in without squishing bees. So irritating lol.

Either do a late split or like you said if it’s near the end of the flow move it down and put honey up.
  • What to do if you find brood in the honey super...... you make a new hive with each box and check on them in 3 weeks. The winners will have a new queen and the original queen will keep her hive running smooth. Obviously this is a nut shell comment and there is a lot more to this. But that's what I do when I find brood in multiple boxes..... take advantage of what they are doing and make new hives.
  • You can spin the frame out with honey and brood and put it back in the hive and they will survive? I wouldn't think they would survive all that spinning plus i would think they would come out of the cells.
