Electrolyte shifts can cause problems when you are starting the ketogenic way of eating, including causing the keto-flu. The ketoflu is not the real flu, and is not contagious, but can make you feel yucky for a few days.

What if you had a tasty, sparkling drink you could sip on that would optimize your electrolytes, keep you hydrated and get rid of the ketoflu? We’ve been working on a recipe for just such a nutritious drink for almost a month, and here it is.

YES... We know about limes and lemons... so just disregard that.

You will want to make this drink in a glass container (we use a quart/liter glass jar). Plastic can have some negative health properties, and doesn’t react well with some essential oils. We tried to keep the ingredients as simple as possible so you would have access to them, no matter where you live.

Make at least a quart at at time so you have enough to last all day.

In a quart/liter glass container: amzn.to/2pxwR2P
• Juice from 1/2 Lime/Lemon
• 2 Tablespoons of REAL Apple Cider Vinegar
amzn.to/2HTG5x4
• ½ Tsp of Nu-Salt (also called No-Salt/Lite-Salt)
amzn.to/2HQrwu0
• ½ Tsp of unprocessed Sea Salt (pink, gray, black)
amzn.to/2GcO0bq
• 5-10 drops of organic Stevia extract amzn.to/2IEyzHA
• Fill the rest of the way with Sparkling Water (San Pelle-
grino/Perrier/Voss) amzn.to/2IExS0W

*You could even add a dropperful of Magnesium if you were having muscle spasms, constipation, or trouble sleeping. Here’s the kind we use: amzn.to/2GfeNE6

You can tweak the amount of stevia, lime/lemon, and essential oils to make your Ketorade taste the way you want it. Leave off the Stevia if you’ll be drinking this during your fasting window.

There is sooo much going on to optimize your health and electrolytes in this Ketorade. Let us know how your tweak yours…

  • Lemons (Citrus limon) and limes (Citrus latifolia) are very different species and naturally grow on different trees. Although, like all citrus, easily cross breed and it is possible to graft and bud them so they can indeed be produced on the same tree. Keep up spreading the good word. Thanks ya'll!

Had to look back to see when I started Carnivore. I found Doc and Neisha when this video came out. I started keto 6 months earlier. I am off 16 medication, was on 02 24/7, no longer! My blood work is better than ever. Was up to 433 lbs down to 280 now 60 more to go!
  • Dr. Ken and Crew, I have been experimenting with this recipe because like you, I hate the ACV smell and taste. Here is my current solution. I double the batch so one lime or lemon (usually I use double the fruit so one of each) then a teaspoon each of salt and no salt. 2 teaspoons of sweetener (I like it a little more sweet) and 2 oz of ACV. With the double fruit, this makes about 4 oz of liquid. At this point, you would need approx 60 oz of water but I do not add it at this point. I cap and shake the mixture and put it in the fridge. Then add 1 oz to a 16 oz glass when I am ready to drink and add my sparkling water. You can use something like bubly or truly if you want added flavor. This keeps the sparkle in the water which seems to go flat pretty quickly after opening.
  • In Turkey, we have a drink called a "Churchill". It is Pellegrino, squeezed lemon juice, and salt. It's refreshing and healthy to drink. So this is a Churchill with some Potassium and a little ACV. Yummy!

Y'all are from too far up north in the south, so you can be forgiven. Being from south florida and growing up in the citris industry, Limes are not Lemons. Unrippened Lemons are green but that does not make them limes. Love you all keep it up.
  • @lisab3338
Love you guys but as a Floridian that has had a variety of citrus trees for a span of 50+ years, Lemon and Lime trees are not the same. Keep up the content! I'll be trying to go carnivore over the next month. Thank you so much for all you do.

Dr Berry, I can't thank you enough for this fabulous recipe! Back in April 2023, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and changed my diet completely. I gave up all alcohol and sugar and refined flour, limiting fruit to only occasionally and only in the berry family, began a successful intermittent fasting protocol, and added exercise to my daily routine - HOWEVER instead of my glucose levels lowering, they actually increased! My fasting glucose unexplainably rose from 110 to 121 over the course of three months. After seeing this wonderful video, I began treating myself daily to this delicious Ketoade. I LOVE the flavor! And here I am today, about 3 weeks later, with a fasting glucose lowered down to 108! I'm still prediabetic however I feel so much better knowing I'm heading back in the right direction and am now confident once again that I will reach my goal. Because of some other health concerns, my naturopathic practitioner wants to see my fasting glucose at 90 which I'm now certain I will get there over time. Thank you so much. May God bless you and your wife for sharing truth and encouragement for those of us with health issues we're trying to resolve naturally.
  • @PTSmash
I just drank an entire one of these because I've been dealing with what I'm convinced was dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and keto-flu. I'm already feeling a lot better!
  • Doctor Berry, I just heard in this video that you live in Tennessee. I also live in Tennessee (Middle TN, Cookeville) and I've been following your videos (subscribed) for approximately 45 days. I am so grateful and excited I ran across your Channel. I am a 42 year old Male and when I started the Keto thing based on your advice, I weighed 305 pounds, today (45 days later) I weight 265 and my weightless is gaining momentum. Today I started intermittent fasting and am looking forward to those results. I started my Mom (age 61) on keto 2 days ago and will try to update you on our progress. My goal ultimately is to be at 170 pounds as I am 5'11" but my current goal is to beat the 200's. Doctor Berry, I'd love to celebrate my breaking out of the 200's (with a 105 pound weight loss) by meeting you and having the opportunity to shake your hand! Thank you for all your videos as they have been a huge help to me and my progress!
  • @scp240
I've been drinking this every morning for the past two years. I make the basic recipe but add the following: ginger juice, ginseng, and turmeric, plus some black pepper and red pepper, and cinammon powder instead of essential oil. I also add some B12 drops, and monkfruit for a little sweeter taste. I usually use a whole lemon or lime. Great stuff!
  • @Crushin123
Ha - this brought back memories from my car racing days. We did 24 hr lemans type races and our nutritionist back in the early 90's, had this mix we had to drink for days prior. The only thing we did different, no oils..and added an ounce of orange juice to this exact mix. If we sipped on this for 2 days, eventually it hydrates without constant peeing, to a point of no dehydration during the race. Worked like a charm and we won many races due to endurance and less fatigue as a driver. Great content!
  • @Balloushop13
Ingredients: -Water (Sparkling water for soda like feel) -Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar -“No Salt” (Potassium Chloride, high in potassium) -Unprocessed Pink Salt -Half a Lemon (a few drops) -Essential oil (optional to remove vinegar smell)
  • @lelaburnett4197
I love all of your videos so far. They are great. My sister had an orchard in California. We also sold citrus trees. There are actually many different types of lemons and limes but, they definitely are not the same in one.
  • @genadelgarn3663
I just want to say a big THANK YOU for this recipe. After drinking this twice yesterday, I immediately started feeling better, and woke up the following day so refreshed. Thanks again!
  • @dianetaylor1085
For years I've had a salad dressing twice-a-day made of 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons olive oil and a generous Shaker two of Himalayan pink sea salt. I have found this to be so helpful now I have a new drink for my water bottle that I carry with me all the time. Thank you
  • @franko7357
You both are amazing in your knowledge, first thing I noticed after drinking this is that I do not feel so tired after my 3 mile runs. Thank you!
  • @DiegoDonati1975
I wanted to say thank you. Your videos have helped me so much. Since I started Keto+intermittent fasting I lost already 10 kg in 3 weeks. And also feel better, stronger, healthier and more focused. Thank you
  • I ran across this recipe a couple of weeks ago and tried it. What a hit! So yummy. I used fresh ginger as my flavoring. I make 6-8 servings of your recipe at a time (minus the mineral water). I take the ACV and the lemon juice and put about 9 grams of ginger per serving in my micro blender ( the 16 oz Ninja cup). I blend it maybe 3-4 seconds and then let it sit about 10 minutes to allow as much of the gingerols and other micronutrients to escape the particles of ginger. I strained the mixture, added the salt and potassium (No Salt) and give it a good stirring to dissolve as much of the salts as possible. I store this mixture in a small glass jar with a drink cozy around it to reduce light. When I want a drink, I shake the mixture again and add btwn 1-2 table spoons it to my iced fizzy mineral water . Tastes like apple ginger ale (I use homemade ACV). Soooo good. Thank-you for this recipe. Watching your videos has been very helpful...my A1C is down from 7.4 to 6.2 and I have lost 65 pounds. I have no more arthritis and the mild peripheral neuropathy I was developing in my toes is almost gone. I am a work in progress. Perseverance Furthers! Your videos help and I share them with my students so they can start owning their health as early as possible.
