Two genuine legends. Dustin Hoffman has a brilliant sense of humour...he had me in stitches.
  • "Bob, this is like jury duty.. You won't have to come back for seven years!" Comic gold!

I love how people almost apologise or make excuses for De Niro. He's one of the greatest film actors ever, but he's also shy and insular. Nothing wrong with that.
  • Robert are notoriously a very hard guest in any talk show. David handle him greatly, a testament on how great he is as a host.

DeNiro’s silence is legendary. What an amazing artist. What a great and funny interview. Memorable ! David is just superb…..

They truly are 2 of the finest actors. You just know when they are in any movie, it’s going to have top quality acting.
  • I love how Dave throws out the line about Hoffman and DeNiro being "subsumed" in their characters, and then the two take a small side bar and kibbutz about the meaning of it. Classic Dave and a brilliant ad lib by Dustin and Robert. All of them; Masters of their craft.

If anyone thinks, de niro is acting awkward, or uncomfortable, it’s because he is. He does not give interviews. It gives him really bad anxiety and he tenses up and cannot talk, that’s why you see him acting like that and also never see him doing interviews rarely.

The audience knows legends when they see them. Love the extended applause!

I like how DeNiro only laughs when it's genuine. Authentic. Gotta give him that. He doesn't seem like a happy man, but then who really is.
  • Robert de Niro isn't obligated to please anybody. David Letterman still had to deal with it till the end of the show. The awkwardness of it all made the interview a classic.
  • @EyeTunz
Absolute perfection. Never ham it up. Be yourself. Acting is for movies.
  • DeNiro is such a force that even though he/they aren't acting here it's hard to take you eyes off of him.
  • Way to go Dave. Really difficult interview. You made the absolute best of it!
  • They both are legends!! I appreciate both of their individual personalities!! 👍👍👍
