I saw a video from a Japanese vlogger who said that it's important that tourists/foreigners learn their language even if it's just the basics. Japanese will not adjust and speak in english so as foreigners, it kind of falls on us to learn Nihongo. If I have to explain something complicated that I can't say in their language, I use the conversation function in Papago or Google to get my message across.

Ginagawa namin kapag mag-taxi sa Japan is nico-copy paste ko sa Google Translate yung hotel address, or any address then yung Japanese-translated na address na yung ipapakita namin sa driver. Easier for both sides, and eliminate any possible miscommunications. Hope this helps! π
