THEY’RE LITERALLY THE BEST DYNAMIC ISTG Ahem- It’s known they’re sort’ve opposites, following the opposites attract trope, and they reflect each-other on their ideals, appearances, and personalities. Lets talk about their appearances first. Hugo has blonde hair, wears glasses, and a tight green attire. Omg no way, Varian is sort’ve the opposite. He has black hair, doesn’t wear glasses, and wears more puffy outfits. Another thing that was discussed by the storyboarders (I believe) was how Varian admired Hugo as an IDEAL, he wanted to be like him, he wanted his personality, Varian’s flaws and weaknesses were Hugo’s strengths. I also like how they’re both similar and literally polar opposites. Varian is humble, ‘weird’, empathetic, logically-driven, nerdy, strategic but also quick to alter (which kinda is like the traits of the INTP-T personality.) Hugo is arrogant, apathetic, logically-driven, nerdy, isolated, an action taker. (Also I would just like to say these traits are just the BASIS of their personalities, it does not define who they are, they’re so much more than just quirky nerds and introverted, traumatized people.) Not to mention the fact they’ve both been through trauma that they’ll both probably help each other through, because they share experienced. Hugo is an orphan who had been neglected through his childhood, and Varian (no offence Quirin) also always felt pushed aside and disregarded throughout his childhood. He always felt the need to take independence and action, because no one truly believed in him, or cared for him. However, the way they cope with it is sorta different. Hugo (this is technically a hc cause we don’t have a lot to work off of when it comes to Hugo) feels the need to be in the spotlight because he desires the attention that he was never given. Varian, on his pursuit to helping, his intentions become twisted and corrupted, and he is clouded by hatred. After everything, he has lost his objective in some way, and his reason for revenge is clear to him, but the logic behind it is confusing. Also plus Hugo is gay and Varian is bisexual and they’re canon!!1!1 (lgbt+ hcs lol.)
