Fun fact: Miyamoto has openly stated that he doesn't care what the critics say. He did this film for the fans.
  • I love how they made bowser a mix of an awkward silly guy but also an actual threat that could end mario

It’s one of those rare movies where they know who they’re making this movie is for, the people not the critics.

Saber you have no idea how much the Kid Icarus fandom freaked out over the 10 seconds of Mario playing Kid Icarus at the beginning of the movie. We were so starved for new content that we jumped onto that little scene like a pack of hungry wolves. People drew fanart of Pit and Mario being friends, it was real.
  • The fact the Goombas look like Goombas and not seven foot tall dinosaur people is an accomplishment in of itself.

I love how critics give this movie bad reviews while audience loves it, its a timeless classic in the review industry
  • The movie felt like a love letter to the Mario franchise and it was amazing, I think people forget that not every single movie needs to have some crazy deeper meaning and it’s nice to sit and watch something fun and silly every now and then. I’d say my only issues with the movie is the pacing I would’ve liked more time seeing the world around them or understanding motivations of characters. It would’ve also been better to see more of Luigi , I don’t mean as in he shouldn’t have been kidnapped I just think he should’ve had more screen time as he was my favourite character after bowser
  • "Am I easily impressed.... Who cares, I'm having fun." I love this line.

I'm just impressed with how well they balanced how goofy yet threatening Bowser can be. That could not have been easy
  • What I love about Peach’s character in this movie is that yeah she’s a “girl boss” but she also has a personality and is allowed to show emotions and show interest Mario rather than take a “I don’t need no man” attitude you see everywhere nowadays. It was just so refreshing to see a female lead written like an actual person.
  • Bower's song about Peaches was one of the highlights of this movie. It's way better than the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • What I really liked in this film are the brothers unconditional brotherly love for each other, which is reflected from the games. Siblings often based their relationship with each other through honour. They are not friends, they are bothers. Both characters strongly reflect this.
  • I loved how they made Bowser seem like a petty child outside of fights, but when in combat, he's a serious threat and the complete opposite of a petty child.
  • I took my Grandma to see this movie. She was the person who got me into video games in the early 90's. She was practically jumping out of her seat. We both enjoyed it so much.

I liked that the non-Mario songs were from the 80s because that's when Mario came out. It made sense to me. Also, I love the callbacks to the games and the DK theme song but I agree, Luigi should've adventure with Mario + his friends. He didn't because it's supposed to show Mario's growth without Luigi or something. I hope the next movie has Birdo, Yoshi, and Daisy as well as focus on Luigi like you said (LUIGI'S HAUNTED MANSION MOVIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!)

Colorful, pure fun, no politics, Jack Black as Bowser....this is exactly what we needed Edit: People that took my "no politics" as "no diversity"... ARE YOU KIDDING? This movie had a lot of diversity. Stuff like "Black and queer" aren't the only things to be considered diverse....Heck, Mario is a 5'1 fat dude and princess Peach is 6'2 *. But, all the wonderful races and characters of shapes and sizes of that land are there of many skin/scale and fur colors. * I'm 6'2 . Less than 1% of American women are over 6'0.
  • If the critics don't like this movie, then the fans will absolutely love it.

Most of the critics and reviews low ratings are because of the story, and I was like "if you're expecting a deep, life changing story, I think you're expecting a bit too much". Not because of it being a kids movie, but because it being a Mario movie; not even the games have complex plots, they're fun first and everything else second, and I think the movie does that very well, a fun movie that doesn't need to be the gem of the century
  • I thought the part when Luigi saves Mario from Bowser's fire was appropriate because he said "when we are TOGETHER we are nothing bad is going to happen to us". First time in the movie Luigi was being brave and really the first time they were together since the beginning of the movie. They stomped Bowser's whole army at that point.
