Writing Characters With The Same Medical Condition You Have (Ft. Nicole Kaiser)

Published 2022-05-16
Welcome to my channel! I’m Sara, and this is a place for writers who battle chronic illness and other health challenges to know that they aren’t alone. Today I am interviewing Nicole Kaiser.

Writing is hard. Chronic illness is hard. Putting them together seems impossible — but Nicole and I are living proof it’s not.

  • This was such a good interview! Nicole, you're so articulate. I've thought a lot about writing chronic illness into historical fiction and how that would work... and I also noticed, when I read Kara Swanson's books, how it was very clear that her chronic illness played a role in the stories.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, Nicole. It is so needed in our society to help gain awareness and understanding. Appreciate your willingness to share your struggles individually and to a wider audience through your characters!
  • I hope you do part two! I enjoyed this. Nicole, you made me laugh when you said that about how our readers who don't have chronic illnesses may be wondering where we get this stuff. :D
